Is this rice or not?

Alright I want your opinion of whether or not these seats are rice or not.
Give me your honest opinion, I can take it, and take the rest of my mods into consideration when you give me your opinion. These obviously arent my first choice, but i found a pair of new seats with sliders and brackets for $375, free shipping!!(Dont feel like spending $1500 on seats)
MODS: TXS Stage 4, TXS FMIC, VF-34, Tien S-Techs, Rota Torques, many more...

Who cares what others think, it's your car. If you like them, get them! The decision is up to you.
Personally, I don't think they are bad for the price.

Mostly agree - its your choice and screw everyone else. Getting good seats in your car is not rice. However, I do question the quality of $400 seats...

i think it's rice.. by replace the stock seat which look better with seats made with such cheap quality..
i say save ur money get some recaro, bride or sparco at the least.

Agreed...they look ok but quality could be shady. If I was going to buy them, which I wouldn't...I would definitely have to take off the whole "R" thing...it screams rice.
| Silversubyrex | 01-07-2005 05:09 PM |
the think i hate about the less expensive seats is that they put their Type R b-s labels on them. i don't like that kind of stuff on any car, much less a subaru.

they *look* okay but the i think your main concern is how the seat supports you. i think you should actually sit in one for a good amount of time before you buy.
| brazymstrp | 01-07-2005 05:21 PM |
just makes sure they arent gonna fall apart on you. That's my main concern with "cheaper" parts. BUt if they are good quality...I would get em, just take off the tenzor stitching.

comfort and safety should come before saving a few dollars. If they aren't comfortable, what's the point? And even worse, what if you happen to get into an accident and they snap on you or something. Looking ricey should take a backseat to these issues by far.
I'd say look around some more first. Sparco Speed and Sprint seats aren't going to be much more expensive. Your guaranteed reasonable quality, and if you feel good in them, they'd be a better choice. I use a Sparco Sprint, and it is WAY more supportive and comfy than stock seats.

Car seats are the most expensive single component of any car. I bet the stock seats are close to $2,000/each. so now you're putting in $400 seats???
BRIDE or go home.

"rice" is subjective. If you really don't like ur stock ones get the tenzo R do watever u want. My honest opinion tho? tenzo is not exactly known for quality and I doubt it has much better lateral support. I would personally rather get those bride knockoffs that a lot of ppl are getting, they seem to be higher quality then tenzo r. But it is ur call.

agreed. lose the logo and they wouldn't be half bad.
i would bet these seats are very similar in build / quality to any recaro or sparco seat on the market. i'm not saying identical, but for the extra $3-400 per seat you can buy 2 sets for the price of one.

Keep the stock ones. They are safer considering they have the side impact airbag in them.I would imagine if you take out the seats your airbag light will come on.But if you want good seats for cheap look into Corbeau.

they look good to me, its ur car like others said!:)
| MF-DIF | 01-08-2005 04:03 AM |
They would look sick in a white or black car. If you can live with the downgrade in build quality, I say go for it!

TENZO = RICE
I've seen quality of Tenzo products. Not worth it. Color on the seat will fade less than a year. Save up and get Recaros or Brides.

if you've seen one in person and liked them, go ahead and buy it, but if you are considering it based on it's price, I would say stay away from it.

you get what you pay for and rice is cheap... i'd save some more money and get seats that fit perfectly... especially since your running a pretty decent setup

Why not just get a Corbeau Seat? They're more in the price range you're looking at and are a pretty fair quality seat. They have a decent selection of entry level seats that can be had for around $800/pair before you buy brackets and all. Plus, they have seats in the black on red scheme that you've pictured, but without the big R.

there decent seats I had them 4 years ago in my integra the fabric fades quick thats the only downsize I saw!

You should check out the replica Bride seats without the logo. People here were selling them for $300/set. From what I have heard they are the same quality and even the same parts as the real Bride seats.

I second the bride replica without the logo. Get some black fabric ones to semi match the 04 seats and doorcards or go red if that's your style.

tenzoR is definately rice, it's meant for hondas whose stock seats suck
