JDM "wide" Impreza grill ('04 - '05)

Pics Added!
I purchased this grill from Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-Impreza-04-05-WRX-STI-Sport-Grill-Grille_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33645QQihZ017QQitemZ270083428864QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
I got it today and in theory it appears to fit just fine. However, the stock grill had clips where the new JDM grill only has 1/3'' holes. I can't figure out the install and I am hoping to find someone who has done this as well.
I am almost at the point of heading to home depot to figure out some ghetto rigging strategies. :) If anyone has any insight that could prevent me from taking this drastic step please let me know.
The stock grill has little clips that are un-done with a flathead screwdriver as pointed out by the arrows in this pic:

This is a pic of the clips with the stock grill removed (Ignore the red arrows in this pic):

This is the pic of the new grill, notice the holes where there should be small clips on the top (4 holes):

Go to the local parts store and find some pushpins that fit into those holes. How hard is that to do?

Subscribed, I was thinking about getting that grill.

Problem solved! Unfortunately Mykrrrr was correct.:p It fits perfectly you just need $4.22 and some time to make a trip up to autozone for 2 sets of (1/4"x1-1/4" license hardware kits) Made by Dorman.
Part #: 494788
It comes with 4 plastic pieces that fill in the holes on the car and 4 screws that attach the grill to the car. Took 5 minutes to install and it fits perfectly.
PM me if you have any questions Nightmare69.

Looks good, I'm ordering tonight, but maybe the CF one since it looks like it's actually CF since I have a PSM WRX anything darker will offer contrast. Thanks alot sc00ter for inspiring me to get this grill.

 Nice work. I've had it installed for 5 hours and have already gotten compliments on it from 4 different people. In your case I would go CF, enjoy!

Was going to but eh, it's almost impossible to see the CF that I decided to just get the regular black. If I have money to burn later on I'll get it, now I just gotta get the install kit from Autozone

Yeah just go in there with the part number I gave a couple posts up and make sure you get 2 of the kits, because each kit has 2 plastic adapters and 2 screws, and you need 4 pieces with 4 screws.

man thats a sexy grill.
how about zip ties
Zip ties would allow the grill to bounce up and down because there are no bottom clips. You will need a secure lock (provided by screws) to ensure it doesnt move around.

I would like to point out that I DO NOT recomend the Flip open Din Pocket mod:
https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=630
Now maybe I'm slightly mentally challenged. And Jamie did tell me there would be some slight modification. But Jesus! 3 hours and 2 cups of coffee later I still can't get it to fit correctly.

Need to drill new holes in the metal bracket to line up with the holes in the Forester DIN pocket's holes and screw it on. Then put 2 large zipties around the front of the pocket and headunit to keep it from rocking up and down when you push on it. Done. 30 min. tops ;)

Everything works with zipties and duct tape.
| sc00ter | 02-11-2007 09:08 PM |
I had to drill new holes which was a PITA because you have to eye ball it and attempt to get it perfect. After way to many new holes and keeping the girlfriend up with the insanely loud drilling in the living room until 3AM because it's to cold outside, it is in stalled and looking perfect.
