mudguard

Has anyone trid to make mudguards for their 02-03 wrx? I refuse to pay 250 for prodrive mudguards and even 90 dollars sound rediculous for 4 pieces of plastic that serves nothing more than stop mud/stones from hitting your paint....

Simple mudflaps can be made either from generic flat mudflap material available in auto stores or from used mudflaps trimmed to match.

fastline are great, kinda pricey for what they are, but have perfect fitment and no wholes to drill, they run about 120

I refuesd to pay that much for the prodrives as well, especially being in canada they would cost me over $300 cdn by the time I got them here. So I bought the RS mudguards and with a little work with a Dremel and a little black molding I think they look pretty good. The molding hides the cut and makes them look factory I think.
Heres some pics.

And the back ones bolt right up, no modification required.

I run the fastline ones in the winter and I wouldn`t drive my car in New England winter without them , But I did just buy a set of RS flaps from the dealer and trimed them to fit perfect for the summer .

i'd like to know as well. the black molding makes the front mudflaps look much cleaner than dremeling alone!

after much searching i went with the fastline ones. easy install. decent pricing.
I am in boston and they help a little i think. I am pretty sure that my car might have been a horse in a previous life the way it laps up all the road salt here.

Looks like the STi mudflaps to me from that angle. Very nice pieces if you don't mind spending $400+ for them.
OT, So that STi in that pic is in China?? Damn, seems like such a waste to have that car in China. The peeps over there all drive like maniacs and most of the roads are shiet. I wonder how long til that car's all banged up or gets stolen. One good thing is that the roads are pretty much lawless over there, so no worrying about getting tickets.

The moulded ones that say "fits most cars" most likely assume a simple fender shape. There is a big likelihood that you need to trim some of the bottom portion.
Example: Subaru GL flaps into Subaru impreza.
Before trimming:

I guess it depends where, but on the highway from zhongshan to guang zhou there where no cops at all. But with the so many road hazards its drive fast at your own risk anyhow.
If you're talking about the city roads in major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, then yes there are mad cops. But I'm talking the interstates or or in this case interprovince highways, where there is basically no highway patrol or nething like that. So if you consider interprovice highways to be bum fuc roads, then I guess your rite

Oooo Gawd, I love that front bumper.
I was thinking of getting the STi sideskirts painted to match to aviod having to trim around the american side skirts.
Anyone think that is logical? I aint paying $300 for STi or Prodrive pieces of rubber. What do they think they hold resale value? Rediculous.
