Scoopless Hood for MY05 part 1

Scoopless Hood for MY05
I have an 05 STi, just ordered a FMIC, and would like to ditch the scoop on the hood. I'd rather not go to the Subaru 2.5RS hood because of the weight, but does anyone know if a carbon fiber one is made? Thanks for any help in advance.
subiekid 11-26-2004 12:20 AM

How about the reverse hood scoop? They come in CF and look nice.
scobaru 11-26-2004 04:16 AM

the only scoopless hood's I've seen that are carbonfiber were made over sea's in japan and that was for the 99 impreza's....
Randman 11-26-2004 07:28 AM

I was fearing that there wouldnt be any, just hard for me to believe that nobody makes one for the new 2.5RS, I just dont want the scoop if there is no functionality, then I just turn into another mustang on the road.

Who makes the reverse scoop hood, I dont believe I've seen it?
Unabomber 11-26-2004 08:29 AM

Braille battery for $157 (-21 lbs) + RS hoodswap for free (or get them to buy you the battery) = your answer.

Seibon reverse cowl.....

actually the scoop would still be functional in the sense that it would reduce heat soak.

i got a stupid question, what happen if it rains? the water will go directly to the engine bay???

yep. but it's just the same as driving down the road with a normal scoop. it won't hurt anything. you'll probably have less water getting in while driving too as a function of the new vent.

broadfield -that is one clean ride. very nice.

drez14 11-26-2004 06:54 PM

Seibon Hoods
Email me at [emailprotected].. I can get a good deal on that hood. They are not a vendor here so i dont think i can post their info here.
baltik 11-26-2004 07:37 PM

Hey Broadfield - what bumper/lip is that - looks like the cusco but more conservative - I like

Stock Bumper/Cusco Lip!
Randman 11-26-2004 08:15 PM

The Cusco lip looks hot... I'd do aftermarket body parts, but I'm just afraid the paint shop wouldnt be able to match the WR blue very well.
spankaveli 11-27-2004 05:19 PM

why not just get an 05 RS hood and get it painted? :o
broadfield 11-27-2004 07:26 PM
why not just get an 05 RS hood and get it painted? :o
Because then it would look like an RS......plain!
Because then it would look like an RS......plain!
i figured that was the look he was going for :dunno:

when I get an fmic, that's what im doing :o
Templar 11-27-2004 09:11 PM

We just put an RS hood onto a 2004 STI that had a front mount intercooler. You may worry about weight, but when the two pieces were weighed there was only a difference of 7 lbs. The STI hoodscoop is very heavy.
Randman 11-28-2004 12:57 AM

I would just go with an RS hood, but again, I'm afraid of not getting a perfect paint match. Wish someone made one in CF...
markadopolus 11-28-2004 01:23 AM

when you get a new hood, I can take your scoop off your hands ;)
piker28 11-28-2004 02:29 AM

as others said simple things and you make up for the weight of the rs hood (battery change and spare tire removal, etc..)

i dont see a problem with paint matching with a good body shop
GoRacerXGo 11-28-2004 10:01 AM

ive been trying to find vendors and others to make a cf rs-styled hood for the bugeye for some time now and i havent been able to find anyone. i figure if the demand is enough for both the old and new models gdbs, maybe someone would make one sometime.
Danimal 11-29-2004 12:48 AM

05 Sti Hood
I shop alot at Super Autobacs in Orange County Ca. I,ve seen a carbon fiber
replacement hood for the 04/05 STi there. I don't know what manufacture
makes it but you could contact them by phone, (714) 903-9900
XS_WRX 11-29-2004 12:58 AM

why not just get a carbon fiber hood made for the 2.5 rs? or aluminum/fiberglass for that matter?
Diabolical1 CC 11-29-2004 01:00 AM

why wouldn't the scoop on an 05 STi be functional?
sanremors 11-29-2004 06:08 PM

I have an 04 RS hood 4 sale in San Remo Red. No dents. Its not that heavy compared to the WRX hood, which I have now. I live in LI, NY. E-mail me if interested: [emailprotected]
