Track pads for Stoptech calipers

Gotta order tomorrow, any suggestions for trackday pads for Stoptech BBK? Mainly driving at Willow Springs and Buttonwillow (for you socal people), I'm pretty easy on brakes, had one set of Carbotech Panther xp on oem brakes for 5 track days (and still lots of life left), yet I'm outbraking most cars such as Honda NSX, M3's but now it's time to take braking one level higher. Running H6 upgrade in rear w/ carbotech (P+ I think) in rear.

I run the Carbotech XPs on the StopTechs on Buttonwillow and SOWS. Works great. Affordable pad.

I run the PF01s, I have yet to run into anything that could out brake me other than a Porsche Cup Car

My favorite track pads when I had my Stoptechs were the PFC 97's. I'd probably go with the PFC 01's now.

Thanks for that extremely helpful tip, as opposed to most people here, I have a very busy schedule at work taking care of patients and dont have time to look up cool stuff on the internet so I just wanted to call a co. during lunch and order the pads.

I was actually being serious, in a sarcastic tone. Last time I needed carbotech pads, I just called them and they set me up no problem, with great service.
Unfortunately, it looks like they pooched their site worse than it used to be and I don't see their phone number on it.

We're big fans of Pagid pads, and Performance Friction 01 and 97 compounds.
Both are available for the ST-40 calipers.

well finally have time to look into this more, had a computer breakdown at work so 2 busy days and being on-call gave me no time for important stuff such as parts chasing. I definately will look into carbotechs as I've been extremly happy with their xp pads for the oem calipers, see my op.

Give Don over at Porterfield a call. They custom cut and shipped a set of one of their track pads (R11 i think) for my brother's 350Z / Stoptech BBK within 48 hours. He felt they were the best pads he's run on that car.

I have a brand-new front set of XP 10's for the Stop Techs. Part number is CT609. List is $196. I'll sell for $150 shipped.
Shoot me an email at [emailprotected] if interested.
-Derek
Please make sure these fit your application. I was told all stoptechs take this pad.

Looks like the CT609 is for the ST45 caliper, too bad.

I have used StopTech Club Race pads at Willow (the big track) and they work fine.
I assume that you have the full StopTech brake kit. Don't worry so much about pad wear, but you should check for disc wear. Once they drop below a certain thickness (once their mass becomes too small to dissipate the heat), you WILL cook the pads and crack the rotors.

What tires are/will be you using? It is a good idea to match the pads to the tire. Aggressive race pads will lock up street tires.

Pagid or ferrodo (sp) are the best race pads.

I have run Ferrodo DS3000's They overheat very easily. Switched to PFC 01's. Much better results, but they lose initial bite after just a couple laps so your brake point needs to be adjusted to compensate. Going to try Pagid next since that is what someone from Speed GT recommended to me since they switched from the PFC 01 to Pagid for the same reason.

Wow. You must indeed be highly important. Hope those lap times are all down there way right of the decimal.

For what it's worth with our StopTech BBK I ran Hawk HT14s on the front and Hawk HT12 on the rear of our Time Attack WRX. These are track only pads as they are very abrasive when cold but they still work very well. They have a very high temperature capacity along with very high friction. This combination was recommended by StopTech specifically for the demands of our car.

Then do yourself a favor, ackowledge the choice you've made for yourself, and realize that you are going to have to call a vendor such as RaceCompEngineering, Rallisportdirect.com, etc. and do what they tell you is best. A decent vendor can get you 95% there towards the ultimate solution in about 5 minutes without a computer or the internet.
If you think you need the 99.9% best solution, you might find it on this forum, you might not... but you clearly don't think you have the time. Even those of us with the time (sort of), don't have enough time to get really good at burning up the road course with a WRX wagon. It sounds like you don't have the time to need the 99.9% best solution ;)

I just ran the Carbotech XP12s this weekend, I switched from PF01s. The PF01s have more bite or initial brake torque but other than that I would say they are fairly equal pads, Ill be running them again soon at Road Atlanta which will be a good test for them.

Willow Springs is unbelievably easy on brakes. I've raced there with StopTechs and STREET pads (whatever street pads StopTech sells - Street Performance or is it Axxis Ultimates?) and never had any problems. In fact in literally hundreds of laps on the big track, I have only ever used street pads.
