04 WRX Front Seats in 03 WRX Sedan?
Salutations Subie Pals:

Does anyone know if the 2004 WRX front seats will fit into a 2003 WRX sedan? Would there be issues like air bag etc?

Regards,

The sliders should fit without a problem and the airbag harness should be the same so in other words...yes, they'll fit. :p

I wonder who will be selling their stock 04 seats already. I want a set if not the STi seats.:disco:

the USDM STi seats aren't worth a nickel more than the 02-03 WRX seats except for looks... and I think the regular 04s look better anyway... the STi seats are bolstered exactly like the old seats, no improvement... that is rather poor if you ask me... that is one category that the EVO definately won...
dj_noose 06-13-2003 03:25 PM

But the JDM and EDM STi seat are great and hug alot better than USDM seats. You can usually get a set for around $1500 shipped from gruppe s.

some people feel the USDM sti seats are a little too..wide...

lol gotta rock the over priced JDM BRIDE seats!

for what people are going to want for them, they are WAY too wide... You can pick up WRX seats for $200... add in the new styling... you shouldn't pay over $400 for a set of these...

Reviving an old thread :p

Has anyone else put in 04 WRX seats into a 02/03 WRX? Do the fronts and rears simply bolt in like the 02s and 03s? Are there any other issues?
Forensiks 05-18-2004 07:14 PM

HOW MUCH DO 04 SEATS GO FOR? I WANNA BUY SOME FOR MY 03!

Depends on the seller.

I've seen them go for $350/pair, and one guy sold his for free.

Luck of the draw.... :)

Got mine for 450. they are heated too, also came w. the oem switches. (pics are kinda crappy)

Only thing i noticed about install was that the 04's sit a tad higher then my 03's.

i'll throw up some better pics l8ter.
Hank3 05-19-2004 11:24 AM

ptsmalls - so no issues with the install right? Did you happen to switch out the door cards also? If so, how hard was that? I just got some pretty much brand new 04 seats (front and rear) and the door cards for $550 shipped...
ptsmalls 05-19-2004 11:27 AM

nope no door cards, but ive taken off. Not a biggie.

There's many directions posted that ive seen, maybe on scoobie mods. not sure.

Seats are easy in, easy out, just remember when you putting the backs in to not scratch the inside of the wheel fender.

btw. 550 shipped is a steal. especially if u can sell ur 03 seats like i did....your paying next to nothing even if you sell ur interior for 200 bux...350 for a whole new interior is great
reno_bk 05-19-2004 11:31 AM

They swap out super easily -- about 15 minutes total. I went the other way and put 03 seats in my 04 because I absolutely hated the new seats. I personally never got comfortable in them in 12k miles. The brackets are all the same, with the only difference being in the airbags themselves. The earlier seats apparently had smaller side airbags that didn't protect up to the thorax like the 04's do...I say "apparently" because I haven't actually seen the relative sizes of them inflated.

Brian

PS: I've got my 04 seats sitting here in the house, but I haven't sold them because shipping them would likely be nightmarishly expensive. They are bulky and heavy...
Hank3 05-19-2004 11:37 AM

Thanks for the confirmation guys - glad it's a straight bolt-in/plug-in. I really did a get a good deal on the seats. The 02/03 seats I believe are more plush (which is more comfortable in certain regards), but the looks of the 04 are better IMHO. And I've sat in them and I like the trade-off of them being a bit more firm.
redobs 05-20-2004 09:57 AM

Yup...they swap right in. I've had 04 WRX seats in my wagon, and currently have 04 USDM Sti seats in my wagon.
Leonardo 05-20-2004 10:12 PM

I got mine for 650 locally: f/rear seats, door cards and floor mat (to replace my worn one)
Vostok 7 05-21-2004 01:52 AM

04 seats in my sedan. They're great, won't even think of going back to the originals. I just love the style and feel :D

Oh yeah and do yourself a favor and get the rear seat and door cards too.

can you purchase the '04 WRX seats from any dealer? or is there a place where you have to special order them? i want these seats also. :D
deft 05-27-2004 09:09 AM

I like how the material on the 04 seats aren't clingy

Yeah - but it'll cost you an arm and a leg. Best bet is to look for someone selling them in the "Private For Sale" Classifieds.

Does the 04 WRX seat fabric wears out easily like the 03?

my 03 seats are practically new since Im a nut about keeping my car clean.

so if i found I a decent deal I could buy some 04s and then sell my 03s to someone and probably not spend much money in the end

mmm..I LOVE the look of the 04 seats

Def. a firmer material but some have a little fraying on the seat cushion.....looks kinda fuzzy imo.
subieworx 05-27-2004 10:50 AM

You might as well order Sparcos or something. The dealer will probably charge you 1000 per seat.

I like the way the 04's look but the 03's are definitely better seats.

:( I was afraid of that.

Only thing is, the '04s have better side impact airbags, with head protection.

They changed the fabric on the '05s... I wonder if they bolstered the seat a little more?
PoweredByRICE 05-28-2004 12:30 PM

I sat in one..seat is the same..nothing different and the mesh is basically the same as well..just a different pattern.
