05 STi : Is this part replaceable/removable?

As the title states, I was wondering if this part is replaceable/removable, and if anyone know how to do it. It looks like it can be removed and is held on by adhesive. I don't want to break anything so I need NASIOC's help.
I was being careless while parking in a small spot w/ concrete posts. I've tried buffing/waxing it but it's still too noticable.
I don't want to take it to a bodyshop because they'll charge me an arm and a leg. Plus I don't trust them.
So once again, if anyone know how to remove this part, please let me know. I will probably go to the dealership and get the new piece.

It looks like you'll need a whole rear fender to fix that. It doesn't look like you can order that part because if you look at the pic, the fender to the rear bumper to the roof is all one piece. Looks like you'll have to go to a body shop to fix it. Good luck!

Are you sure? Have you ever seen that part on the 05 STi? I've tried pulling it apart and it seems that it can be done.
It's not an 04, the 05 have that extra piece that sticks out.

Yes, that's what it looks like to me. I just need to find out how to remove it. I don't want to break anything else.

problem solved!
I just called the dealership and the replacement part only cost me $43! w00t!
Thank god, it's an 05, if it was an 04, I'd have to go to the autobody shop.

It should come color matched, like most genuine parts. I'll keep you updated. I'm goin to the dealership after work today.

yes the lip will come painted and ready to be applied. BUT there are blue one way push clips with a small screw holding them on. YES you will probably break the blue clips. BUT you will get new ones with the new plastic.

Man I hate stealerships, I called them, they said it was $43. When I got there, they charged me $98.xx!
I was like you told me $43 over the phone. He was like uhh well STi parts are double.

It's not part of the door, it's a piece that goes over the rear fender, only the 05 STI's have it.

Still at a loss as to how it wasn't an STI part when you called on the phone :confused: :confused:
Some Bobble-head may have read you the wholesale cost over the phone and "corrected" the mistake when you got there. I guess you could have asked to pay with a CC over the phone because your sending little sister down to get it....

I called today to make sure the part is there. The guy said: "oh it's on back order, blah blah...oh wait, it's scheduled to arrive today"
You know how dealers are, most of them have no idea what they're doing.

Does this flare attachment actually increase wheel/tire clearance or is it purely styling? In other words, do 05's have more clearance than 04's? When I reach behind the flare on my 05 the inside seems flush with the non-flared part of the fender (no extra clearance).

Well, the rim is a bit wider (x8 instead of the x7.5 on the 04's) You can see that with the suspention tweeks on the 05's it looks like it has a bit more wider track than the 04.

Why would subaru put those flares on 05sti. IMO it doesn't look good having flares on pumped up guards. I mean the guards are pumped already so why stick flares on them ? It should be easy to remove them but the problem is the bumper is designed to flow with them. We should do a poll to see who likes them who hates them :)

Just to make it look wider, and differ from the 04's more than likely.
While the track of the car is wider, this strip wouldnt make too much of a difference.
