The Return of El Matador!

I know this has already been covered in the Cyprus thread, but it deserves it's own :)

Sainz in Citroen return for Turkey
Double world champion Carlos Sainz will make a shock return to the World Rally Championship with the Citroen team for a one-off drive on next month's Rally of Turkey. The Spaniard, who retired at the end of last year, will replace Francois Duval, whose position has been under pressure after a string of disappointing results. Awesome!
I'm a huge fan of Carlos Sainz. He's one of the last great personalities of Rally. Most of the new breed just seems so bland... I dunno, maybe it's just me.

It's not just you. At New Zealand this year, Petter was the only one with any personality.

They havent scored crap yet, they have yet to decide a lineup for Greece and afterwards. . . . . .

At the end of the season, all the Citroen drivers will be looking for jobs --even multi-time World Champions Seb and Carlos da Man. Cuz Citroen and Peugeot are dropping out of WRC after 05.
Is that poopy or what?
I guess they will all have to go race trucks in the Dakar after this.

I think that anyone who isn't a superstar and doesn't already have a contract for 2006 is SOL.
Like it's a tough choice between Loeb and, say, Armin Schwarz.

I was waiting for Duval to get his ash booted. Can't keep wrecking cars after your team boss says stop it.

No. Read.
He is driving for a one-off with Citroen in Turkey. Citroen had NOT decided who they will use for the remainder of '05. Their goal is the Manufacturers championship, and they will use any available driver to do it.

Interesting how both of the ex-Fordies (Duval, Martin) are having tough time adjusting to new platforms..nice to see Sainz back in action.

Surprised and happy to see Carlos back.
With many teams jumping away from WRC this could be a good place for some top drivers to go, if it happens:

I am not going to comment on whether or not he is techincally an alcoholic, but I have witnessed that Boy putting down some serious amounts of brew. Rim of the World year before last, anyone that was at the after Rally party will know what I mean. I personally watched him drink 2 pitchers BY HIMSELF. I was pretty busy "borrowing" from the banquet room beer cooler, so I passed by him more than once.

At least when he (Gronholm) gets pissed off, he just swears or kicks the car.
Wasn't it Sarazzin (can't spell it) that smacked his Co-driver?
If that were me, That driver that smacked me wouldn't be walking, let alone driving, after that.
I wanted to reach through the TV and strangle him for that!!
Sorry, a little OT.

Hmmm...
Championship Standings
Driver - Points
M. Martin - 34
M. Gronholm - 26
I'd say Marko isn't having any problems adjusting at all. I wonder though, is there a lot of Marko - Markus jokes in the pits?
