Floor mats?

I think that most of us have gone through our stock floor mats by now and have had to replace them. I was wondering if people were just buying another set of stock mats or have found a good quality, "durable" mat that does not wear through in 6 months and comes with the factory hole to secrue it down. I recently bought what I thought was a quality pair, but where my driver heel goes is almost already worn through. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Autostyle fromt he UK sells some good mats.
http://www.autostyle.co.uk/
Shipping can be expensive, I have a set and i think subi gal has a set too.
I might spring for some of thier nicer matts this summer.
You can get an aluminum heelplate on your mats. No wearing!

ruber mats from allsubaru.com ~$40 They are 1/2'' thick and all you need to do to clean them is hose em down.

Unless you got spurs on your boots cowboy, rubber mats should last you a mighty long while. They look purdy as well. :D

Thanks for the replies, but I should have clarified, I wore out the stock carpet mats and my big feet have a hard time driving with those rubber mats. I checked out the ones from mats.com but was not sure if they had the stock locking pin, or whatever is near the seat. Let me know what you think of them, fitment and all.

I haven't seen them but you'd think for an upgraded option they'd be designed for that.

I'll be living in Wisconsin and during the winter you track in all kinds of crap from the snow, salt, dirt, etc. Cleaning simply means taking the mats out and spraying them with the hose.
Of course they also match my cargo bin/tray so that's a nice touch. :)

No, they don't. But they have a great number of little sharp points that keep it from sliding around. On the other hand, they do not fill the foot well completely - lots of space around them.

I've only seen pics of the mats but not inside the foot well. I've ordered the mats for delivery when my WRX arrives but I can cancel them if they're only going to protect part of the surface area. :(
Can anyone else comment about the rubber mats?

the mats i had custom made have "sharp pins" on the backside that dig into the carpet... i've never had em move on me...

cant remember where exactly i ordered them from... UK for sure... custom made for LHD.. embroidered, diamond plated, lined in yellow leather.... :D bit OTT for most.. but i like em ;)
if the rubber floor mats wont work for ya,
why not get another set of OEM stockers for spring summer time...
and then toss the old/used ones back in for winter time???
good luck

Love the Subaru rubber mats. I just put them in on top of the normal fabric mats; the points on the bottom of the rubber mats keep them from sliding on the fabric mats, and the fabric mats stay in place with the pin, so every stays in place. Wish I could get the Subaru rubber mat style for my other car!

I do the same thing armand. Just put the rubber mats on top of the original floor mats. To clean I just pull out the rubber mats, then hose and scrub them down w/ soap. They look nice and because of the groves, don't let water and other debris go flying around. I also wear size 12s and I hardly ever feel any trouble when I get in and drive the car. The only problem I have is when I'm on a road trip w/ friends and they get in the car, they have this tendency to slide their feet on the mats super hard and push the mats under the clutch. So every once in a while I have to slide the rubber mats back an inch, but that's very rare...

They fit fine with the driver's side a bit big - partially covering the fuel door release. I can still get to the handle so its not a big deal at all. My brother has the Subaru rubber mats and I think they're WAY too small with the coverage.
I keep these in year round - they're great for the rain as well because nothing will ever get caked in like a carpeted mat.

i have husky liners. well, they're not exactly mats but they kick butt. i took out my stock floor mats, threw them in and the carpeting looks as fresh as the day i brought the car home. spikes on bottom prevent them from slipping around. they fit perfect from door sill to center console. they have a nice lip so it can hold alot of everything, mud, water etc etc. and easy to clean. hose em off then dry. most likely keep them in year round since it keeps everything rediculously clean.

Rubber Mats

The reason the rubber mats are so small is so they will lay flat on the carpet in order to hold the water inside of the grooves, this is according to Subaru that is. Many people often complain about it and we get alot of returns. My suggestion is to go with the carpeted mats and buy yourself some stock in Velfoam to clean them up once in a while, they are pretty durable.

hey ibizan,
this is the their website... http://www.huskyliners.com
they offer two choices. ones that look like heavy duty rubber floor mats or husky liners. i think that both offer good coverage all around and fit nicely. i went with the floor/cargo liners. they remind me of humongoid lunch trays with the diamond plate patterns on it. check it out. their website is pretty simple to navigate and give you a large listing of applications. a google search will also provide you with a bunch of other vendors that carry husky liners.

Thanks migs, do you know where you ordered yours from? I couldn't find a listing for the Subaru models on the husky site. I assume that liners for the 03 WRX will work with the 04.

If the oem fabric mats are the same size/shape as the heavy duty rubber mats, then how does that fix the problem where the rubber mats don't cover the entire surface area of the floor well? Judging by the pic, it looks like the Subaru one doesn't even extend out to the gas pedal.

I just bought a rubber floor mat set from COSTCO and they fit very well in my car. They come with 2 front and 2 rear mats for $15. I love them! They don't come with the anchoring hole but you can poke a hole in one corner and use a zip tie to anchor it.
I don't like the WRX mats from Subaru. My buddy has them in his WRX and I think they are way too small, plus they slide around a lot.

I use the rubber mats in the winter and the carpet ones in summer. The rubber is the best - all you have to do is hose them off to remove the salt and grime of winter.
If you used the rubber year 'round I doubt they would ever wear out.
