I'm going to wash my car later today when the sun starts to set. Any suggestions on how to clean it?
Timmy Burns 05-18-2006 01:20 PM

For the stubborn bugs that are really stuck in the paint, get a clay bar. Works magic.
aidrock 05-18-2006 01:23 PM

how do you work a clay bar . . . any suggestions?

+500

A double or triple coat of wax on the forward facing surfaces does a good job of preventing a painful cleanup too.

For most of the front end and side views, they have the "invisible bra". Just kinda worried about the radiator and the intercooler. Its a insect graveyard in there.
dlroto 05-18-2006 02:05 PM

can you say dirty.

slowscooby 05-18-2006 02:35 PM

You killed like 15 lady-bugs. Horrible.
dauss 05-18-2006 02:41 PM

Hey, its not my fault they flew into my car.
ekw 05-18-2006 03:25 PM

you should have dodged them!
:-)

looks like a biology lab project.
netZ 05-18-2006 04:23 PM

meguiar's detailer body solvent will help loosen up those bugs!

thanks!

OMG ewwww
benw 05-18-2006 06:01 PM

soak the car, soap up a sponge, and squeeze the suds over the bugs. Use a sponge with a soft inside with the rougher outer layer that has holes in it. It'll get the bugs off. For the ac/radiator, use the spray-n-wash power nozzle!

I'd venture to say that you drove into them :)
Advans 05-18-2006 06:08 PM

That is just disgusting. I really hope it all comes off.
Thumper23 05-18-2006 06:19 PM

yeah, I had that problem after my x-country drive in august, but the good wax job I did beforehand helped
Dreammaster2.5RS 05-18-2006 09:51 PM

look at the pretty colors.oooohhhh. way to help reduce the bug count
dawiyo 05-18-2006 10:01 PM

I should have gotten pictures when I drove from Maryland to California. It looked just like that!

btw my trip was 2590 miles
MF-DIF 05-18-2006 10:04 PM

Damp bounty paper towel.
DJ_STI 05-18-2006 10:15 PM

did you catch anything in the hood scoop
wrxfactor 05-18-2006 10:53 PM

I just drove from Oklahoma to MA and I don't have anything close to that...strange.
MF-DIF 05-18-2006 11:22 PM

Mine looked like that after just a 250 mile drive in FLA. I had a large wasp and dragon fly in the scoop along with misc other bugs.
eddie1982 05-18-2006 11:26 PM

just don't scrub so hard and create a surface abrasion

DaKP00r 05-19-2006 08:17 AM

i thought the wrx was fast enough to go under the bugs?
flyinEyeball 05-19-2006 08:47 AM
i thought the wrx was fast enough to go under the bugs?
I think you are a little confused here... SRT-4's are so fast that they vaporize the bugs due to the heat created at the nose of the car as they near the speed of sound.
sixtoo 05-19-2006 08:58 AM

Jack the car up and shoot the back of the radiator with some compressed air. If you don't have a compressor, you could buy one of those little cans just about anywhere.
+1 on the claybar
