9-2x spoiler on wrx wagon?

Bump for pics of the swap

I really like the rear bumper of them.

will those swap to an 02 wagon? looks like it
Hokie-wrx wagon 04-19-2006 12:48 PM

I'd like to do a whole rear end swap (hatch, bumper, lights) with a 92X.
c'dalerider 04-19-2006 01:46 PM

i like the wrx rear alittle better. i like the liscense in the bumper not the hatch cover. a debaged wrx lookes alittle cleaner back there. I have however been trying to get my friend to trade hoods, but not certain the 9-2x will fit. She does need a bigger hood scoop and i have a fmic.
Drew888 04-19-2006 04:36 PM

Wow, you really like the 92x rear spoiler more?

I always thought the WRX spoiler would look better on the 92x.
captain spaulding 04-19-2006 05:46 PM

9-2x spoiler looks cleaner, it also carries the lines of the wagon better than the wrx spoiler.. but this is just my opinion of course..
DrD 04-19-2006 06:39 PM

Funny - I thought the 92x spoiler was way too small and looked horrible to the point that I would much rather have nothing than that spoiler - it hardly extends out - I wonder if it even has the same impact keeping the rear window clean... from the side, both spoilers more or less follow the body lines - not sure what you mean by "looks cleaner"
captain spaulding 04-19-2006 09:24 PM

by cleaner i mean smaller and tighter fitting to the body.. look at the wrx spoiler:

it's obviously bigger and angles up disrupting the flow of the car imho..
DrD 04-19-2006 09:38 PM

the car is going down an incline in that pic, so it really accentuates the effect - that being said, the spoiler is there to do a job - if it doesn't disrupt/change the airflow, there's really no point in having it there.

no no get the dolphin lol

Perfect for attaching water ski tow straps when cruising along the shoreline.

yah removing the spoiler all together was my first option (if the 2.5ts doesn't come with one i doubt there is any benefit other than looks for the spoiler) , but then i saw a 9-2x in a parking lot and really liked how that spoiler looked/looks..
littlewhitewagon 04-20-2006 10:58 AM

but the wrx spoiler has the hole in it to try and keep the back window a little cleaner... wouldn't that also provide aero benefits?
captain spaulding 04-20-2006 01:18 PM

the 9-2x spoiler has a gap as well, it's not fully flush against the hatch..
DrD 04-20-2006 09:56 PM

Arguing that just because the most basic, inexpensive version of the Impreza doesn't have it, doesn't mean it's useless. The 2.5TS didn't come with many things - like rear disc brakes - doesn't mean they don't do anything. In terms of the normal spoiler stuff (downforce), it probably doesn't do much for normal driving, but it does help keep the rear window clean - you can get it for the TS wagon, or use the optional dust deflector which accomplishes the same thing, but looks silly and costs quite a bit less than a painted spoiler.

Way too small IMO, the stock WRX wagon wing looks and fits nicely
Trottingwolf 04-28-2006 02:49 AM

I have a 9-2X and love it. That said MAKE SURE that they can be swapped before you spend any money because I have looked at getting a WRX spoiler and I dont think you can do it. Make sure you see one that has had it done and ask about any mods needed to make it work. The back hatch on the 9-2X is very differn't from the WRX. But you could swap all the back end parts(hatch, bumper, lights) as far as I can tell.

The 9-2x spoiler does not clean the back window like the WRX claims to(I dont know how well it works on the WRX). There is NO gap between the window and spoiler on the 9-2X. This has always sucked for me because it makes the back of my car dusty and harder to clean. Thats part of why I would like to do the WRX spoiler but like I say as far as I can tell it no fit. :(

Too bad you're not closer to nj, or else we could meet up and see what's what..

I'll agree with that. The back always gets dirty really fast.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, has anyone ever tried installng a saab 9-2x rear spoiler onto our subaru wagons ?

I need a small spoiler due to my snowboard box interferes with a WRX wing =(

hope this would do the job !
BIGSKYWRX 03-13-2008 09:53 AM

lots of talk here, not lots of action :) anyone tried to see if they actually bolt up?
BIGSKYWRX 03-13-2008 09:55 AM

Any takers for a WRX spoiler on the 9-2X? :D
jackfrog 03-14-2008 03:04 AM
Any takers for a WRX spoiler on the 9-2X? :D
my guess is it cuts both ways fitment wise- would be a nice option for either vehicle if they were interchangeable

^ fair number of wagon folks sporting the waist spoiler- they're a little pricey
Flyingjibus 03-14-2008 01:33 PM

and hideous.
