about to purchas sedan lip for wagon app, have Q

After extensive searching I've settled on either the sti v2 or v1 lip. Has anyone custom fit either? I want to know if one is easier than the other to fit. If the only thing to do is remove material from the middle to shorten it then I'll go v2 since it is a 2 piece to start with. If the ends need to be reformed slightly to wrap around the outer side of the bumper then I'll go v1. I do know modifications are reqired to fit plus some of this.

Both are fiberglass from the readings I find. Same process to reform either. Thanx for your input.

I went with a ver1 replica, we shall see in the next few weeks how it turns out.

Let me know how that works out as I am looking for a lip and am willing to modify it.

sounds good. I'm half tempted to mold it to the bumper, but then you have to repaint the whole thing if you ever chip up the lower section :(

Thanks to Max at Gruppe-s ((M-F 10-6 PST): (510) 498-8400 ) the V1 carbon replica lip is on the wagon with minimal change.

I'm still debating painting it since I'm not to fond of the carbon look. Some minor fitment issues will be resolved at that time as well. Granted photos do not do it justice, looks far better in the further down picture IMO.
The bumper is a stock wrx shaved wagon bumper. Note no more license plate holder :D

I think painting it would look better also. Maybe in addition get the STi side markers that are smoked?
| IA Performance | 03-09-2004 05:38 PM |
yeah, the side markers are a must since these clears melted :( I guess you get what you pay for. We recently pulled off the sti grill to see how the stock setup looked. Maybe a zerosport front grill is in need.

Am I the only stupid one here to blow $600 on the JDM wagon lip? I think it's the best looking on for the wagon...without any modification. I have yet to put it on. I'm just waiting for the state to sweep the sand off the roads. Can't wait...I just wish I could read Japanese(all the instructions are in Japanese). Wish me luck!

Prelude/2.5rs- Picture of the JDM wagon lip? Wondering if it is similar to the sti v1 or v2 or uk sti lip.
The only modification that needed to be done was a few rivets to hold it to the stock bumper from the underside and 3 across the top portion in the center scoop. Since they are black they are unnoticed. It's ready to take on the world of uneven pavement
What I did notice is that the lip is longer from front to back than the wagon bumper is. The width of the bumper is fine, but if you place the lip on and push it completely flush in the front then you have about 1" hanging off in the tire well area. Shortening the lip would require cutting off the end caps, removing about 1" of material on each side and reattaching the end caps via resin and fiberglass. Painting would be in order at this point.
I'm almost thinking about silver on the sides which fades to the carbon fiber across the front. This way the lip can be shortened and the carbon feel is kept. Again, more money :( I'll try and have someone photo shop the effect first though.

I'd post pics, but I don't know how to. You can find the lip on Japanparts.com. That's where I had to get it from. I do like your wagon though.

So, has anyone installed a sedan lip onto a 04 wagon? I'm interested in the Chargespeed V1 lip or the STi lip. How much work does it involve to make them fit the wagon??

prelude/2.5rs- I believe this is the item you have on order:

It looks identical to the UK wagon version. Nice piece.

Hey East Coast---That's exactly the lip I bought. Yeah, it's a little pricey, but the fit will be perfect and it comes painted.

Thats one HOT HOT lip !
I vote -- not to paint it, leave it in it's raw CF color , probably get a CF hood to match ! sorry for being a ricer here, but I love the contrast of CF .. :D

Hey tegnwrx!
I got my wagon lip through Japanparts.com. It only took me 1 week to get mine. I have ordered many parts from them and their shipping is really quick. Yeah, I paid $600 shipped from Japan, but I figured it comes painted and it's an actual JDM Subaru part, so the fit will be perfect. The rear for the wagon looks sweet too. I just didn't have another $600 lying around. Your wagon is going to look killer w/ both pieces on it. I hope your wait isn't too much longer. Who did you get yours through? How much...if you don't mind me asking.
