Adding extra window auto roll down buttons?

As you know, the 02-05ish wrx's, or at least my 03, has only 1 AUTO window roll down button. I was wondering if it is possible to take the AUTO switches from the car part outs and add them in and have them work properly. Like swapping out the passenger normal switch for an AUTO switch. Can it work? easy plug and play installation?
thanks

I'm doing it to my car pretty soon. It's more than just a button swap. The wire harnesses are different. An auto switch is different than a non-auto one. Are you putting the passenger auto on both drivers and passengers sides?

I was considering this as well. I pulled apart the switch housing, and it looks pretty complex.

Do a search, I remember reading on the board where there's a DEI aftermarket module that you can use with your current factory switches to get one touch up and down...

Auto down would be nice to. Let us know if you figure it out.
I heard somewhere that Nissan Maxima switches plug right in and the higher end models of that car had auto up and maybe down. I tried looking around but you can obviously only get 4 door Maxima switches and my car is a 2 door. Not sure if that's true for the WRX models.

Auto up would be nice too. I've seen the auto up and down for both the passenger and driver side(scion tC??) It seems like it would be pretty useful function.

Auto Up would be awesome... down window leaving a toll booth, fast acceleration, and manual trans makes a fun game for your hands to perform alot of things at once

Yea when I pulled the panel for my 99 RS, I looked where the harness for the window and lock buttons plugged in, and it said Nissan on it. Suprised me when I read it.

This is the best bet at this point. This has been discussed a bunch and different people have tried different things. The 530t is the cheapest and easiest solution I have seen.

I'm putting these in over the winter for my viper system... I'll be able to fully open, close, and vent (2 inches) every window by remote :-D

2002 Maxima switch panel bolts right up and the plugs fit. It lights up when you turn the key on, but switches don't work. I'm guessing it has something to do with the way subaru likes to switch the negative instead of the positive (like in the headlights). It's just an assumption at this point. I'm still looking into it.

I remember one member trying real hard to do this, I think he gave up as it was clear to him it wasn't worth it anymore. Forgot who it was though...

If you are referring to the OP, why don't you check the date he started this thread.
Somehow I don't think even a search would have found last weeks thread.... in 2006

There was a thread on this last week, and the consensus is the DEI module is the best solution, and it takes only minor electrical knowledge to wire in. Switching the switches out takes a little more knack of taking the boxes themselves apart. There was mention of a way to modify the switches to all be auto down, but it sounded complicated, and the auto up feature is only available through the DEI module.

HAHA, think about it. If the rear window went all of the way down, you couldn't open the door.

The Nissan (Infiniti) and Toyota (Lexus) switches are can bus. They send a signal from the driver's side to the other windows. The 2002-? Subaru has contacts. They're not interchangeable. My friend has a junk yard, so I went through a dozen or so switches, all from different models.
