aftermarket front bumpers for 02-03 WRX

I've been looking all over the place for front bumpers but I can't seem to find anything I like. Most of them are too aggressive and just don't feel right. I'm looking for something that is pretty clean looking. Do you guys have any front bumper favorites or possible sites that have a compilation of aftermarket ones so I can take a look at them and see which ones I might like?
| Handsdown | 02-09-2007 01:17 AM |
i don't think there's a bugeye bumper in existence that i wouldn't call "aggressive" but that's just the nature of the bugeye. you can't have foglight holes that huge and not look like you're out to put a hurt on something.
i'll try to estimate approximate costs before shipping but i have no clue how accurate i'll be.
here's the ones i know of:
chargespeed (~700 genuine, 300 replica)

gramlights (~1100)

crazy ebay bumper (~300)
(don't even know the name)
jun (~800 genuine, 300 replica)
(i actually bought this exact bumper pictured)
c-west (~800 genuine, 300 replica)

syms (~600 genuine, 200 replica)

zerosports (~700 genuine, 'blitz' replica ~250)
(sorry for the dark picture, just search endless night wrx if you want better pics)
burnup/launsport(wrc replicas) (~1200)

http://japanparts.com/images/ImageFromDB.php?base=1&no=8034
but my personal favorite?
the price-prohibitive prodrive edition front bumper. (~1200)

...erm, minus cover intake hole(sorry:D)
i have no clue which ones are fiberglass, urethane, etc. i know the gramlights has carbon fiber ducts on it, and i know that replicas are all fiberglass pieces of crap. IMO, NEVER buy a fiberglass bumper. lip, maybe. never bumper.
if you're looking for clean, go oem bumper(2-400 depending on paint) with a clean subtle lip.

yeah, sorry for not attributing the cars to their owners but i didn't want to attribute some and not the ones i didn't know. if it's your car, thanks for being a prime example.

| Handsdown | 02-09-2007 01:48 AM |

JUN bumper ftw!!!!
| so rexy | 02-09-2007 08:44 AM |
I'm kind of partial to the chargespeed/jun style (more than likely I would/will go for the jun) but I was wondering if anyone has ever modified the stock bumper to remove the two little dividers (for lack of a better term) in the side/brake ducts? If they could be cut out, cleanly, and then chuck a prodrive lip on there I think that I could live with that.

Can you point me in the direction of where you found the JUN or even the C-West for $800? I kissed a gaurd rail last friday and need to replace my bumper...
I hate winter....
The only thing about bumper selection for me is I want to keep my big arse fogs! That is one of the attractions of the Impreza for me and always has been. ;)
Thanks
Quick edit: I found the C-West Genuine For ~551 here http://www.nyxracing.com/cwest-front-bumper-holes-subaru-0203-p-14703.html

^are you looking for just authentic?..cause gruppe-s has jun replica's for 199!..im thinkin of getting one myself
| radar455 | 02-09-2007 09:53 AM |
Yeah, I want Genuine. I am not a big fan of fiberglass ones. :( The thing that stinks with the JUN bumper is they are hard to find under 1k because it is direct ship from Japan....
I will most likely end up with the C-West though.

Been thinking about that one myself but my biggest deterant is that Gruppe-s admits that it is a B fitament (at best). Obviously, I'm sure that could be improved upon with some custom trimming and shaping but I'm still undecided on wether I want to be bothered with the extra work...

Prodrive > *. And the price tag reflects that :( The Jun is a distant second. And the rest would never see my car.

If they made it so I could use my fogs, I would go with Chargespeed hands down!

yeah, i think i agree. i'd rather have a lip anyways.

two? are you talking about the three holes to the outside of the foglight recesses? regardless, you can just have a body shop shave and mold over them, it is just body work. i don't know if i've ever seen it but you could easily imagine it or draw it up in photoshop.

I agree, the Gramlight is awesome. I wonder if in those pics if those are canards that are quite possibly covering the areas where the Fogs could be mounted...
Anyone know?

| Handsdown | 02-09-2007 12:49 PM |
the canards are really brake cooling ducts and afaik there's no way to mount fogs behind them.

kaminari too, this might be the perfect front kit if you're not looking to go too aggressive, doesn't stick out far, looks pretty clean.

The last 2 are lips, this is for front bumpers... Anyway, just thought I would let you know that the Chargespeed on my car was authentic, and is Japanese Fiberglass. Not sure if there is a difference between American vs. Japanese fiberglass, but the Chargespeed bumper took a beating and held up great.

I think I'm probably leaning towards the c-west front or I might stick with the stock bumper and get a nice clean lip.

^^^^^^^^^^^
that's why i offered up the kaminari front add-on kit because most bumpers are agressive looking and you said you wanted clean and 'sleeker' i suppose would be a better word.
