Actually though, I can't say the diamond plate floor mat idea hasn't crossed my mind. I'll be keeping my car for a while, and I'd like to preserve the carpeting as best as possible. But rather than the aluminum diamond plate, I'm probably going to get a set of black Husky liners. The Husky liners have the diamond plate pattern, but more importantly, they have a tub cunstruction, which I'm hoping will contain crud better, and maybe slow down the wear where my right foot rubs up against the hump.
Of course, if you do go the aluminum diamond plate route, you can always bling 'em up with some Duplicolor Metalcast. Woot!

i was thinking about that once and i decided that it was kinda a ricey not for me kind of idea,
i did use a small piece of diamond plate just for under my right heel that worked ok. when my shoes were wet it tended to make my feet slip around, not bad but enough to take me by surprise.
its your car i guess, you pay the note and insurance so whatever makes you happy man
i heard that if you put too much stress on the exhaust manifold them diamond plate floor boards fall off... thats what i heard

yea i mean... iven seen them on some cars... and no one really does the diamond plate thing for the reason some people have already mentioned.... but from what i have personally seen they look kinda... cool... my car is a lighter color car so i think they would match up pretty well..... i ran across a car last night while i was at work and he actually put diamond plate trim under his fron bumber... and it really added to the style.... so say what ya want... i think im gonna try it, they are just floor mats.. nothing that cant be undone

When i bought the car they threw in some of those heavy duty winter floor mats... they are nice as far as getting wet because it traps all the water ya know... im just looking for something a little stylish... and a little less heavy duty.. how about that?... suggestions anyone?
| DimSum22 | 03-11-2006 11:22 PM |
Well if you really want metal at your feet, I'd suggest bare metal.
| element78914 | 03-11-2006 11:34 PM |
this is sort of off topic... but is it true that a cold air intake on a 2.5i will reduce the tork substancially.... and short ram is the way to go?

as long as you go easy on the NOS, and watch your manifold pressure, your diamond plate floormats should be ok. As a matter of fact i think they come with the two biggest bottles.
edit: my bad, someone already covered this topic.
