Rear Aero Guards on Wagon, Finally
After rolling with just the fronts forever, I finally got my rear aero guards in and installed.

I had to buy both front and rears, so I am going to be putting the fronts up on ebay soon. Going to go wash the car and try to get some new overall pics soon.

natoli4 02-05-2006 08:29 PM

I've always thought the rear aeroguards look weird on post '02-'03 models due to the slit that's already there on the rear bumper.
Jpapania 02-05-2006 11:04 PM

Okay here is the whole car:

I am really happy with the overall look now :D

Sweet..I want some

Wow, very nice. I like the look of your wagon and hope to get the aeroguard kit as well for WRB WRX Wagon.

I have one question though: How are the aeroguards attached? I'm assuming these are the JDM OEM kit. Did you have to drill holes, or do they fit in the existing holes?

I'm wondering if I could use these and a set of Fastline/Rally Armor mudflaps. Perhaps putting both of these would be redundant...

The install could not be easier. This is the OEM kit and install using existing holes and two tape. Interesting you should bring up mud flaps. It looks like the rears have an extention that goes under the car to mount them to. BidSky did you notice this on yours?

Thanks for the compliments on my wagon. I have been thinking about adding the STI front splitters and the spats before the rear wheels, but worried this would cludder things up too much.
ravi 02-06-2006 12:46 AM

nice!

i just noticed they put the wheel weights on the outside of the rim....
WRXDriftR 02-06-2006 01:06 AM

id go with a JDM front lip instead of the USDM STi splitters because you have WRX skirts. The STi splitters work with STi skirts better.

Where did you buy the aeroguards?
BIGSKYWRX 02-06-2006 09:16 AM

They look nice on your car!

I didn't notice if there was additional holes- the extension underneath I assumed was to block mud?
BUCKman_02 02-06-2006 10:59 AM

Wow those look great. Good choice!

Do you see the slits I am talking about? Maybe they are just to block mud, but it looked like the perfect place to mount flaps. I am not really into that look, but would definitely be unique.

Thank you one and all for the compliments :D . My wagon is very subtle, but that is what I like about it. I too was worried the STI splitters would look weird without the STI sideskirts.

I also thought about taking of my roof rack, but I like the contrast of the black up top now.

Also the wheel weights are on the outside. I usually prefer to have them on on the inside, but this is the way they came from Japan.
BIGSKYWRX 02-06-2006 02:31 PM

I think the slit is to let out moisture/dirt- hard telling though :)
subie4life 02-06-2006 02:48 PM

I'm also curious as to where you got the rear aero guards and how much? I looked on japanparts and they only seemed to sell the front and back as a set. I would only be interested in the rear ones. I think the splitters would work if you didn't have the front guards on, but I think your right about too much clutter with them all on. Right now it looks awesome!
BrentS 02-06-2006 07:11 PM

Wagons are soo hot!
cracker 02-06-2006 07:37 PM

Looks good man!
BIGSKYWRX 02-06-2006 08:51 PM

How many guys noticed the rear diffuser? :)
natoli4 02-06-2006 10:47 PM

well looks good...like the back better than those front ones on the rockers...one last thing...all these ground effects suggest that you drop the car a bit no? a nice set of coilovers so you can dial it in just how you like it.

I had to order the whole set from www.japanparts.com, but you can sell the fronts pretty easy. Working out a deal on my fronts right now actually :)
How many guys noticed the rear diffuser? :)
You know I catch a lot of people staring at it and pointing at it in the parking lot. Always makes me laugh

I have really mixed emotions on dropping the car. I like the ride height and the handling feels great. I have thought about adding the Pink STI Wagon springs, but might wait until my stock struts are warn out so I can replace everything. That is one nice thing about the aero pieces is they give the illusion of the car being dropped even though it is not.

I really appreciate all the compliments. I am trying to keep the outside as stock Subaru as possible and all though it is subtle it definitely turns some heads.
Mr. Sadface 02-06-2006 11:04 PM

Looking very nice! I run the fronts only, but have the JDM rear lip. The rears really fit nice!
natoli4 02-06-2006 11:13 PM

I must say that the way that they drive with the stock set up is nice compared to the coilovers. can run over just about anything and the car sucks it up!
pleue 02-07-2006 03:25 AM

looks great, similar to what im going for with my 02. Noticed the diffuser right away as I have one as well. I think a small lip of sorts is necessary with the front guards on there to even it out (lnr/cf diffuser/vlimited type), the strakes on the back of the sideskirts would be overkill/cluttered imo.
Jpapania 02-07-2006 09:26 PM

I have thought about a lip but for some weird reason the seem to make wagons long front heavy or something. I really like the looks of the V Limited lip and STI splitters, but there are a lot of fitiment issues on wagons. The JDM wagon lip looks really good, but is pricey. Would rather save up money for STI HID headlights and an STI Intercooler
