Engine Dress-Up - Best bang for Buck?

My car is a Stage 2 with most all the bells and whistles, but my engine looks completely stock when I pop the hood. Up to now, I've spent all my mod money on go fast parts, not dress up parts. Now I'd like to make my engine compartment look the part.
Anyone have suggestions for good ways to make my engine's appearance match its performance? I've managed to keep everything showroom clean, and already polished the TMIC tanks and the AC lines along the firewall, and that helped. I'm cheap, so I'm looking for stuff that can make a big difference in appearance without putting a big dent in my wallet. Any suggestions? Photos would be even better. Thanks.

Paint all the yellow caps in a color that fits with your engine bay (red, black or silver!)

Change your turbo heatshield or wrap in with thermal tape. Replace the plain black hoses with a dress up kit. Either get the one that replaces the hoses or some of the braided stainless covers. Paint is always good. Paint or polish your intake.

Yeah, some may call it rice, but it's mine! :D
BTW, this is an old picture and I now have coilovers and an upper strut bar.

personally, i think a well dressed up bay is all about cleanin it up and removing alot of stuff that doesnt need to be in there. And this is free (of preformance parts prices, you can always expect to pay maybe 20 at the heardware store)
I would put your battery and windshield wiper fluid in the trunk. Hide lines that dont need to be showing. AC can go if you dont need it or your that crazy about your bay/preformance. you get the idea.....
Other stuff that looks real nice-> intake, hoses, fmic, powercoated stuff, and fresh paint in the bay is the best

I've been slowly taking off the old oxidized stock brackets and giving them a fresh coat of black paint. I could do it another color, but black works.

Powdercoat your IM krinkle red. Not more then $150 or so and looks killer.

Some things on the cheaper side would be a radiator shroud, the Beatrush pulley cover, Cusco/Cobb turbo heatshield, Radiator hose, battery tie down, different fluid caps, etc. I need to do some more engine dress-up.

samco hoses really change the engine bay.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I did some snooping on Ebay today and came across a stainless battery cover for a decent price. Anyone have one of these?

Looks like it might be a decent way to cover up one of the uglier parts of the engine bay, but it is hard to tell if it is deep enough to really look decent.

Doing a wire tuck yourself... for basically FREE is far better than buying bling and paint parts. But it's more involved... although not too difficult.

thats all great on hondas where theres a ton of room, but where would you even start on a subaru. theres NO room for any of it to go....

Yea.. you've obviously never seen jvcastillo21's car. It's not as tucked as Hondas but god damn is that a sexy sight... AND he's got extra wires because of nitrous or injection i think. Still looks amazing.

Yea... he's got direct port... imagine that bay w/o it. WOW:

Obviously it's not for the faint of heart cuz it's a tough project. Since my bay is empty now I'll be trying to tuck SOME wiring but there's no way in hell I'm putting in that much effort for this....

Duplicolor semi gloss black engine paint looks exactly like all the black plastic under the hood.

i guess i was looking to see how well a stock looking engine pay could be tucked...with a TMIC, AC, and what not.
im not THAT big of a mechanic...i wouldnt even know how to re route the throttle body cables like pictured above.

Alright, sorry if it's a "noob" question....but could somebody please tell me more about this "wire tucking." Never heard about it before. What's involved...maybe some detailed pics...thanks much!

carbon fiber or spec-R alloy alternator cover

Personally, if you're going to dress up your engine bay, my philosophy is to do it the right way with nice parts. ARC titanium pulley covers are nice. ARC, Zero/Sports, Cusco, or Carbing/Okuyama radiator covers are nice pieces, too, although the ones from Crucial, Perrin, etc. are cheaper. Syms caps, Zero/Sports intake pipe, STI/Samco hoses, that sort of thing. The HKS/Sun Auto voltage/ground kits can look good if you route them intelligently and in a clean way.

It's like rerouting wirse so they're not very visible or running around all over the place. Look at these Honda bays and see how clean they are.
