faster blinking signals part 1

faster blinking signals

how do I make my blinkers blink faster without changing the bulb? is there a relay/fuse replacement or something?
dorifto88 09-12-2002 05:01 AM

is it really that important?
gordy 09-12-2002 05:06 AM

no, just something I'd like to do.. of course if its not important to you then dont reply. no need to be rude
axis 09-12-2002 09:49 AM

replace the bulbs with LED's. there's such little resitance with the LED's that it causes the flasher relay to open and close twice as fast. That's what happened when I put my LED's in. Hope that helps.

thanks for being helpful.......

:p:D

yeah, you can replace them with LED's, but you dont want to replace the bulb, so you can try replacing the relay, most autoparts stores sell blinker relays that do that......although your best bet would be the led's, not only do they blink faster, but ther are "clearer".......i had them on my car for a while, i just got tired of the blinking noise.....:p

yes please inform the crowd!~

is it like a mini-silicon board w/ leds that just plugs in to the regular slots???
WReX'n'Effect 09-22-2003 12:27 AM

cut the ground wire going to the bulb. There should be 3 wires. Cut one.
Kwyjibo 09-22-2003 01:23 AM

i wanted red for my rear turn signals, so i got LEDs....and they blink faster, which i don't really like...

but anyway, i got mine from www.2kracing.com
ATX25RS 09-23-2003 11:21 AM

just search on ebay..i got mine on there for like 8 for two pairs....i am not sure about the WRX but the RS the blinkers are 1156...so just search "LED 1156"
nt5k 09-23-2003 08:29 PM

Please don't do this.

People that have this make me almost have a seizure.
jwisniew 09-23-2003 09:10 PM

so simply cutting the ground wire will do it? id rather do that than buying LEDs
WReX'n'Effect 09-25-2003 12:08 AM

i haven't looked at mine, but if there are 3 wires then 1=pos. 1=neg. and 1=ground, cut the ground = "hyperflash" as we used to call it back in the day on the ol hondas and acuras.
Silver Mojo 09-25-2003 03:21 PM

Rice mod.
NimrodBoz 09-25-2003 03:28 PM

you should realize that this mod will probably prove to be annoying to other drivers and distracting. im guessing you dont care about the distracting part (i mean, most appearance mods will make people looka t your car more) but also most cars use "hyperflashing" as a warning sign that there are electrical problems with the left or right side of the car, that that might be a reason not to do it as well. i think you should just leave the blinkers as is.

Replace the stock, 10 weight 30 Blinker fluid with 0 weight 30 blinker fluid, they will blink fastar

that may be too much...you want to save a bit of wieght in there....maybe 5W30 fluid.....redline maps a good synthetic...try http://www.redlinemotorsport.co.uk/dynamic_product_menu.asp
BAC5.2 09-26-2003 01:40 AM

yea, most definately use synthetic blinker fluid.

While your at it, synthetic brake light fluid makes you stop faster, pick up some of that too.
aov 09-30-2003 12:18 PM

If gordy wants to do this I guess its up to him, but I know when I see someone with blinkers that blink that fast I just figure they are driving with a blown bulb and don't even know why.

Enough with the rice. If you don't like it then keep it to yourself. He asked how to do it not what you think of it.

This is an open forum, so if we want to post our opinion about this then we can.

And now back to the original question: Easiest way to find out is go to ClubSi, I'm sure they have plenty of DYI rice mods.

As the founder of ClubSi I take offense to that. J/K I am now the proud owner of an 03 WRX. But to answer your question I think you need to put Type R stickers on your WRX for It to really work.

You're right that this is an open forum, but all the rice comments just are just garbage to have to filter through. When someone posts something like this the rice aspect is already implied so no need to post em.

Anyway, I've seen a couple guys that have done this before. You can probably find it here or any of the other subie forums by searching. I know it's out there.
