I guess AMD is out then. The out sourced Indian sound makes me almost pee my pants everytime I hear it!

Well, maybe Ferrari will finally suck again then. :-P
Does'nt make much sense, other then from a profit point of view. I'd think Ferrari would'nt want to change a thing considering how dominate they've been the last few years.

but they aren't changing anything... as long as they got Schumacher, all is well! That dude will still manhandle the field even if he was given a tricycle it seems....

India has some of the smartest Engineers in the world. It may actually make Ferrari better.
So, before making racist statements, maybe you should look at the facts.

They are out sourcing software design, who knows how much will be outsourced in their f1 cars, maybe it's mostly the road cars.
Given how reliable ferrari road cars are, I say anything would be an improvement  j/k

AMD has been their software source for a few years now. I thought they were happy with them but I guess Renualts awsome starts have been getting under their skin.

Racist statement? I hope your not refering to me. My statement is based on the idea of change not who is making the software.

It's just a sponsorship deal wrapped up in typical corporate PR spin, all the work will still go on in Maranello with the same group of engineers, they will just have another technical sponsor partner to work with.

Somehow I missed it too, was it deleted already or are we simply oversensitive. What race is an Indian Engineer anyway? A little common sense is very helpful before jumping to conclusions.

Obviously someone is taking the inference that Indian goods aren't quite as good as Italian designed good as being racist. I'm sure saying things about what the English, German, or French aren't good at would be considered racist as well? Jesh, calm down everyone.
I'm not sure but the last time I checked - there weren't any Indian car manufacturers that are world class. Granted there have been some Indian nationals who have participated in F1 or Grand Prix races over the years.
Overall, its not a racist statement... but its just poking fun at how things being sent offshore is getting crazy. I swear I get at least 10 calls a day from people trying to sell "off-shore" services in India, and when I have one of my employees in Mubai, India check them out - it turns out to be 8 guys working out of someone's living room.

I know first hand, our co recently did that, half the time cust that are already pissed, come in cause they tell us they cant understand what the heck the people at the other end of the line are saying..
at first I laughed, then I was one of the victims calling em up-- gets real old- real fast--- turns from humor- to pain...
maybe in the not so distant future, they can create like a, dialect convertor.. sorta like that darth vader voice box toy thats come out... then everyone would be happy.. :D

That is certainly true, but they are not being contracted by American (and other) companies to provide tech support in Hindi.
The biggest issue I've noticed (and I worked a 6 month contract for a company that handles outsourced CRM for hundreds of companies) is cultural. The Indian (and Philippino) culture(s) are very passive and very affirmative. An american might say "I hear you" or "OK, but..." but our affiliates in these countries would answer "yes". It just means "I heard something". It does not imply forthcoming action or even comprehension, it's just like me going "uh-huh". Until you learn this, you have some odd conversations. I was instructing the network people in India to perform a test for me. They said "yes" when I asked them to try something for me. Ten minutes later, I asked them how it was coming, they said "fine". 10 minutes later I asked them if they were still working on this test, and they said "yes". Finally, after 10 more minutes, I demanded what was going on, and they said that they didn't know that I was asking THEM to do something. They were nice guys, and certainly spoke English much better than I speak Hindi or any other non-English language, they just had a comprehension deficit, and it was quite difficult to detect. They would never tell you that they didn't understand. And that, my friends, is a cultural difference.

So when the car fails to start while on grid, someone will have to call for tech support and "converse" with "John". He will ask them if the car is turned on. He will ask them if the mouse is plugged in. He will then put them on hold while the call is transferred to someone who can actually fix the problem.

I've heard the "poor man's F1 engine" before. I think it may have been from this forum. I saved it on my computer. It puts me in tears every time I hear it. Anyone know the source? Who was the guy that did it? It's absolutely hysterical. The only guy I know of who is that good with sound effects is comedian Michael Winslow (of Police Academy fame). I saw him live once... a riot. He does a great Jimmy Hendrix bit.

Just wait until Sauber calls tech support and gets some Dell call-center employee.

I was getting tech support from Mumbai (Bombay) on something I could not figure out for the life of me. I was so frustrated with the program I had named one internal folder "****" (the eff word) that kept on bringing up an error message. I then had to upload my files so that they could try and figure it out and guide me through it. Well sure enough, it was the folder that was causing me the problems. He said, "I am thinking that you were getting quite frustrated with this program as you named this folder ****." He then proceeded to give me instructions like, "Now open the folder named ****, link this to ****," etc... It was hillarious in his Hindi accent.

I think it is primarily sponsorship and marketing. Getting Ferrari's F1 team to be well recognized in India (I have no idea if it is now or not) will probably help with their primary sponsors - Marlboro and Shell.
