you shouldnt need a photo shop there is actually a convertible impreza its concept car with 98 style fogs and front bumper but still looks SWEET!!! i wanted it till i saw the right hand drive hehe still looked sweet. let me see if i can find it....

hondaslayer... except for filling and painting the old hole (we talked about that already) it would be a relatively easy swap... time consuming but easy. if you're comfortable with drilling a hole in the roof of your car, order a replacement antenna for a new beetle from VW or a cougar one and we can do this this summer... i'll help you in exchange for helping me with all the shiznit i've got planned for mine (hrmm maybe we can save time by doing the brakes shocks and new wheels all at the same time 'eh?[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif[/img])

Hey safir ill definitely help you out with your mods. i have no pronlem drilling a hole its just filling in the old one(note to self pull all change from ashtray for hole filling)

I would order a kit, rather than a replacement antenea for a bug. I dont remember the name of the company that makes these anteneas, but it is not just a rear mounted antenea. It is powered, amplified, whatever. There is a pretty big base that mounts under the part that you see. You will need to run power wire to it, and the new antenea wire. It is actually pretty easy to do, but get the whole kit or you will miss something important. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif[/img]

I'm getting my old antenna shaved and it's going to cost about $500. If you take a look at it, it's a little more complicated than just filling in with Bondo. There are metal brackets that need to be ground down to make everything flush and factory looking.

i have that .. it was one of the first mods i had ever done to my car.. and it was very easy... but make sure u pull down the roof liner all the way .. i had done this but then forgot while drilling and .. i drillled a hole through it.. but oh well.. and btw that antenna works way better than the stocker... if u guys need them i can get them from this Vw aftermarket place for very cheap..

I bought a Zendar short antenna for my car. I haven't installed it yet (because I'm waiting for my car to get in the shop). It's amplified and total length from base to tip of the antenna is about 3 1/2"- 4" long. I am also getting the stock antenna shaved off. Well, I'll post some pics as soon as the car is done.

I had thought about the RS as a convertible, and thought it would look sweet. Guess I was right! Could get it done, for enough money, but I wouldn't want to give up structural strength and take on the added weight. Another question: has anybody thought about putting the antenna in the wing somehow, and shaving the one off the A-pillar? Wing material shouldn't block the signal, and you wouldn't have a visible antenna. Just a though. By the way, nice name, hondaslayer [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

I had one of them on my car. Fuba makes them. I had mine wired for the cellular phone, buy you CAN get a kit to replace the stereo antenna as well.
My Tri-State electronics (sorry..chain in the midwest..actually down to just 1 shop now IIRC [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif[/img] ) had one so i snapped it up. BUT Radio Shack I believe can order them if they are sold out or don't stock them.
I am working on pics right now using photopoint..just waiting for them to show up. I personally loved how it looked and would have changed it for the love of me after it was done [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif[/img]

I ran my antenna through the rear spoiler and so far the reception is comparable to the original location. Took me about an hour since I had to run the extension along the door sills and through the trunk.
