First, thanks to everybody on these posts - I stole a lot of ideas from you.
Here's what I did:

I understand wanting to post pics, but there are thousands of other threads that he could read and respond to to get up to 10 posts.
Why start a thread and keep whoring it out? Why not just wait until you have ten legit posts and then start the thread? Ten is not a very high number you know.
I look forward to seeing your car after the hard work you have put into it.

some people don't know what clay is... I know what it is, but never saw or used it... I want to do that to my car to get the impurities :)
| WRX-ray | 06-26-2005 05:25 PM |
Claying is super easy. Make sure you start with a clean car. Just cut the bar in half, flatten it out in your hand. Spray the bar with the prep spray that comes with it, then spray a small section of the car. Then rub it (lightly) back and forth, then move on to the next section. Roll up the clay and re-flatten it a few times, or if it starts to look dirty. The key is to use plenty of spray, and never clay on a dry part of the car.
Wash after you're done, then use a polish. I used Klasse AIO then SG. This stuff is also simple, if you have the right tools.
For AIO, use a damp foam applicator and do 1 panel at a time using about a nickel size drop. Don't worry if it leaves residue - it will. Then after the car is done, go over it with a buffing towel to remove the excess. To remove the product which is tough to buff out, use Meguiar's final inspection (aka #34). This stuff is the secret weapon in buffing off Klasse (both the AIO and SG). Just give the towel a spritz and the AIO just disappers - I can't recommend this enough if you're going to use Klasse.
You can go on to the SG step without waiting. Use a microfiber applicator pad which is dry to apply the SG. The goal is thin coats - I used a spray bottle to ration it out. For each panel, spray the pad once or twice. Then buff it in. If you can see it, you're applying it too thick. After you finish the car, let it sit. Different people have different recommendations for how long to let it sit, but I waited about a half hour. Then buff it off with a clean buffing towel. Use the final inspection on the buffing towel and you'll have no trouble at all.
Then look at your car, smile...and take some advil for your aching arm.

clay is a fine type of...soil, if you will
many use it for pottery and other ceramics
Now days, clay is more commonly known as the name of an ex-ymca employee who sang on american idol
....
thats all ive got
but seriously, its a slice of clay (claybar) used to take impurities out of your paint, go to an advanced auto and try it. Itll make your old dull paint shine again. :alien:
