French GP Picks! Oui Oui!

Time for another F1 race, this time at Magny-Cours.
Looks like Ralfie will be out for the nexzt 12 weeks:(
Williams test driver, Marc Gene is going to have the big break of his career and sit in for Ralf. Remember when Salo did that for M.Schuy? Due to his impressionable driving, Salo then got the ride to Toyota for $$. (driving the Ferrari didn't hurtr)
Picks:
MS- can't be stopped
Reubens- best #2 man in the circus
Button- can't shake the 3rd spot podium
Sato-if he doesn't grenade the engine, he'll be up there
Alonzo- good race, not enuf pwr
Gene- proving everything he's got to make a great showing
Juan- handling problems due to a first corner incident with MS.
Whattya think?

1. Alonso
2. MS
3. Trullii
4. RB
5. Button
6. Gene
7. Webber
8. Raikkonen
Renault home track. Alonso and Trulli will get the jump on a Ferrari front row. Trulli will slow MS down enough to the first pit stops so that Alonso can hang on for the win with MS breathing all over him at the finish.

Didn't Gene do a race last year too? Can't remember how he did.
1. MS - just too damn good
2. RB - hes on a roll, lookin for a win.
3. Alonso - getting back to form
4. Button - loses podium to FA
5. Fisi - proving himself for a ride at Williams
6. Trulli - will finish this race
7. Webber- see Fisi
8. Kimi - happy to finish
JPM will get like 11th, finish after Gene, and be super-pissed.

I take
1-Schuey
2-Button
3-Alonso
4-Reubens
5-JPM
6-Jarno
7-Sato (provided he can keep his engine together)
8-Webber
I feel bad both for the McLaren and Jag drivers. There's some real talent there but they can't get a good car to save their lives! Glad to finally see the BAR come round. Button was dropped at the end of 2000 from Williams and farmed out to them. He's been in a slump until this season! Good for you, Jensen!
Cheers

Napolean has the perfect build for an F1 driver, though they may have to build him a carbon fiber booster seat so he can see over the steering wheel.
Here are my picks:
1. MS - not much to say here
2. RB - see above...hard to not pick the Ferrari guys 1-2 in all the remaining races
3. JPM - too good and too proud to not be the 1st non red car across the finish line. He really has something to prove after a disasterous tour of North America
4. JB - Fast, consistent, but outclassed by JPM this week
5. JT - Outperforms his teammate, but Renault can't deliver in their home reace
6. KR - a successful first showing of the new car
7. TS - fighting KR the whole way for 6th
8. FA - Struggles but finishes in the points
I'm a big Webber and Jaguar fan, but the car just awful. I hope he gets a seat at Williams for next year.

Bon courage, messieurs!

NASIOC F1 Pick 6

Just a reminder, place your picks for NASIOC F1 Pick 6 at Motosport.com's free F1 pick 6 (ok, now technically pick 8) competition. Specify your group as "impreza.net".
The impreza.net group standings for the last race, and the season are here. Enter "impreza.net" to see our results.
The podium winners (top 3) for each race, win two things... First, the greater, and more obvious prize is the pride of having been luckier than most of the rest of us. The second, yet sweeter prize is you win a free donut at Krispy Kreme!!!
There are two ways to pick up your free donut. First, you can come to Orange, California, and I'll buy you one. The more convenient method is to simply print out this thread, and present it to any Krispy Kreme cashier! (Please let us all know about your experiences on this method!)
:)
Have fun!
Ken

I'm not going to make any picks, but I think BAR could be very very strong this weekend... Magny Cours is Michelin's home track and BAR is Michelin's team at the moment - at least the one they take development info for the tires first.
The last few years in a row, Michelin shod cars have run very strong in that race. If Ferrari is going to be beaten this year, I think this is basically the best chance.
It's tough not to pick Shumi for the top spot though

I was trying to be funny...didn't come out that way I guess.
Ralfie is flaming the US stewards and Dr.'s due t the way he was treated at the race and the mis-diagnosis of his back.
In a way I do agree that he should be pissed.
Not easy being a steward....

My instinct is with the McLaren boys.................
I like their aloof, quiet stoic demeanor and the fact they are, let's be honest, REAL underdogs.
Maybe its wishful thinking....but its a Mclaren stunner in Magny Cours this weekend with Ferrari and Williams finishing the top 4 or 5. F1 2004 finally turns the corner and legacy and heirarchy are restored......
Aren't predictions fun!

Unless I'm overlooking someone, it appears that only stevesparts, gtguy, and bemani were wise enough to pick both McLaren's to be in the points... nice job, you guys, to foresee that!
As it is, with the competitiveness of F1 for the 2nd half of the season, where now we have 5 teams, 10 drivers, all fast enough to score points, and/or podium... it will be difficult from here on out to guess the points finishers.

Thanks, OTG. Looks like Andrew's and mine were just switched 2/3 and 7/8. Lucky guess. Like I said earlier in the year, it had been a long time since I didn't have CD in my picks. Looks like it is finally time to put him back in there!
<----- DC Fan!
Sure was a fun race to watch. I had a whole room full of family visiting, who were talking the whole race. The last 20 minutes was silence as they all watched to see who came out on top of the 4th pit stop. Great racing, and good for Rubio to stick his nose in for a change.
