Genuine STI JDM 02/03 Scoop OR Replica?

I just bought an 02/03 hood scoop on ebay. I was under the impression that it was a genuine sti part, but now im not sure? I am sitting here looking at it and it seems the vertical fins are too wide and rough in the corners to be genuine sti but im really not sure? It has a serial number on the bottom
Serial No 20050305 014-B
What do you guys think?

I don't know if this helps but I believe the part # for the 02-03 STI Scoop is SUBFHG1

Does it have the "Subaru Boomerang" on it anywhere?

No the part #'s aren't always on the parts. That's why I wasn't sure if it would help you. Thought maybe it would help you find out if your serial # is a Subaru #.

I say fake!! Haven't heard of too many fiberglass STi hood scoops. I'm thinking that they're usually poly of some sort.

lol thats some ninja edit... it said carbon fiber a second ago! and they are all fiberglass.. haha
| skinart76 | 02-08-2006 06:26 PM |
It's a replica if it's made of fiberglass. Also, the genuine STi Scoop has 4 uprights not 3. ;)

It has 4 uprights, Is it fiberglass if you can see fibers?
So its a replica!
That really pisses me off, im going to leave negative feedback if this guy does not refund!

I have a fiberglass STI scoop (I knew it wasn't OEM JDM when I bought it). Fits great, I had no problems. The OEM JDM scoop is plastic, I'd stick with the fiberglass. But thats just me.

blkwrx02- So your scoop is replica? Do you happen to know the height of your scoop

the biggest problem i've run into with fiberglass replicas?
they get hit with one little pebble...
one little flying spec o something
and they shatter. crack and peel.
not pretty.
hope it works out for you

I'd look at the scoop closely from the bottom side just to make sure it is fiberglass you are seeing. Because, most of the fiberglass replicas do not have the uprights at all.

Mine has 4 uprights.
It's fiberglass so I guess it must be a replica.
I don't know the height. I can measure it tomorrow. I think it close if not the same as the OEM sti scoop.
Jamie - I didn't realize they were so fragile. I bought it used and got a good deal. On a side note I got my side mirror today, thanks.

Looks good, I wouldn't worry too much...if it is a replica then you should be able to buy 2-3 of them for the price of a genuine one :D

I actually paid $180.00 for the scoop that i was told was authentic! I
emailed the guy i bought it from on ebay and told him i needed a refund but i dont think he is going to work w/me on this.

Does he sell these regularly? Might want to post his ebay user name as a warning to others.
Also, if you paid by Paypal you might be able to get your money back. But you would need to prove that it is not an authentic part.

Painted or unpainted? I paid about $100 for mine used from a guy on ebay. He had it all primed sanded and ready for paint.
