Get Z-3 Fenders for my scooby? part 1

Get Z-3 Fenders for my scooby?

ok so i have been pondering if i should take the front fenders off my spare parts car and do a good job of making some Z-3 vents in them. i would put them in after i get the car painted. Alone they may look weird, but they may complement the hood scoop i already have and the ground effects, aluminum wing, and i am getting. So Z-3's on a soon to be show car? or just too out there?
thanks for your input.

I wouldn't.
sick1.8t 08-13-2002 01:21 AM

just remember....

i can work very well with fiberglass and bondo, and they would come out looking good. Also, the crowd I usually run with is the "Honda" crowd, so add on parts like this are appreciated.

If it's a look you want, then go for it. Personally, I would rather lick a red-hot poker while rats chew my toes off. But that's just me. :)

If you made some original vents on the side of the fenders that were your own creation then fine. But copying Z3-style vents is just tacky imho, on any car.

I think it will look good:alien:

I say go for it, if U are making it, then U could appreciate it that much more. Plus if it is a show car it will look nice.

I think the looks clash... like some kinda weird fish with bugeyes ;)
decibel_dj 08-13-2002 10:10 AM

well its your ride but inside of using fiberglass and bondo you can just get the Z3 gills from like JT autostyle or one of those manufactors and cut out a rectangle and drop in the gillls with a little filler and maybe some bondo you can have the Z3 look without the fiberglass fender. i had Z3's on my ride and they looked good but i park on the street and i cant count the number of times people would lean on my ride and at one time my fenders were f*cked up cuz of it i went and got the gills and had them installed i was much happier with the look and fitment since you retain the stock fenders just add the look I wanted

not everyone drives a GDA:rolleyes:

personally, i don't think the z3 vents would go well with the lines of the car. though, some sort of indented scoop would look pretty neat.

I think it'll look tacky. None of subarus lines will compliment a look like this.

my $.02 (if you want Z3 fenders, buy a Z3 don't fake it)

if you must have vented fenders, how about 4 horizontal vents going up that get longer to follow the curve of the wheel well?

That style will be very passe in a year or two, if it isn't already.

It's not like you're buying some trendy wheels that you can easily replace in a few years once they're out of style. You're putting holes in your fenders. If you want to change them, you need to source new fenders, install them, prep them and finally paint them.

Even if I thought it looked good now (which I definately do not), I would suggest not going through with this.

Don't mind the post hore...

PsiRRizzed247 08-13-2002 04:02 PM

RSarte 08-13-2002 04:13 PM

How about M3 vents on the fenders instead... all the honda peeps are pimpin the Z3's. go for something different. :D

So you're just doing this so some Honda boys can say "yo those fake Z3 vents are tight yo". Usually anything that the stereotypical Honda yo-boys think is cool, is generally, um, not cool.
If you want to do that to your car for yourself, go ahead, but it's generally accepted that stuff like that is left to the yo-boys. Impressing the APC crowd isn't my thing.
TerenceT 08-13-2002 05:16 PM

i would .. if it works...

but our fender isn't touching the engine bay, that vent won't be "functional" per say

if it's non-functional and it's used on other cars functionally, then we ran into the uncle ben senario... sortalike Altezza lights

Oh, man, I'm sorry, I thought Cobreth started the thread, and I saw "2002".... I retract my previous statement, and have no opinion on the matter. ;)

You shouldn't do it. Save your time and money.
Jaxx 08-13-2002 06:31 PM

Hey man, everyone is raggin' on you for suggesting, but I say, if you want to do it, and you're going to do it yourself, then go for it. Anything you do to your car is yours, so let it flow if you think it'll look cool. Personalization is great, especially when it comes it cars. My 2 cents.
