installed
How was the install?
ended up very easy. started out with a round aluminum bar to mount to. was going to look like a mini lighting bar but it ate up too much room. so i just went to the lowest holes on the sides of the radiator support with some flat alum, 1/4" thick.
now i have room for driving lights in the upper grill and space for the oil cooler

are these things really loud enough to be worth the money? what are they rated at like 120db? and wahts the sound like, just stock sounding kinda?
| kursplat | 11-24-2005 01:47 AM |
did a quick test and they are MUCH louder than stock to my ear. next week when schools back in i will give them the real test. blasting the slowww moving kids at my daughters school that walk like they have all day after the lights changed

^^ I love getting unsuspecting people in the crosswalk. These two trailer trash bitches from a town about 45 minutes out of Sacramento took their sweet time crossing the street one night. The supertones made em jump a foot and they were pissed!
Luckily I waited until they were just to the right of my car so when I hit the horns I could jet outta there

The Hellas are deceptive. They're very directional, so in the car they're not that loud, but to the person dragging their feet as they cross in front of you
I'm thinking of adding one of my Buick horns into the mix.

i just installed mine on monday, OMG these things make people jump. put both of them up right behind the grill. theres a guy with a 350z that lives near me that has a train whistle from hornblasters. talk about loud.
| specialev | 11-24-2005 09:45 PM |
There is a guy around here with a compressed air tank and a truck horn in a POS Celica. I hear him honking it from time to time on a road that is about a mile away from me. Damn, what a loud noise that you would never expect from a car so small.
There is a guy around here with a compressed air tank and a truck horn in a POS Celica.
perfect for a celica. the extra weight won't make it any slower than it already is. wouldn't you know as soon as i get these workin' everyone in front of me is behaving themselves. i didn't know they were loud AND magical
| ShortThrow | 11-25-2005 12:52 AM |
do these supertones just wire up to the fuse box or what im confused
| volkl23 | 11-25-2005 04:34 AM |
do these supertones just wire up to the fuse box or what im confused
There are many ways to wire them. Most people use a relay and an inline fuse and connect it to the stock horn wiring as this is the easiest.

ordered a set today. Now that I am thinking about it, I may go ahead and buy two more sets. if 2 are good, six would be better.

I can't prove it yet since I haven't rewired, but I believe if you go with more than two horns you need to plan on wiring direct to the battery using the provided relays. Right now I have two horns attached to each factory wire, and I'm not using the extra relays at all. If my cruise control is on, and I do more than the slightest tap on the horns, I blow a fuse and lose the horns and the CC.

....proof that wiring them without a seperate circuit is bad juju.

Hahahaaa... that vid is "][emailprotected] funny.
I opted for the Steibel Italian Air Horn. Sounds much better than the Hella's, imo.
