Help me choose an exhaust for 2007 Limited WRX STI

Hello all,
Just joined this forum as i just aquired a 2006 sti limited, with the option of a red spoiler.
Anyway i wanted to change the exhaust because i wanted the car to have a REALLY nice sound.
After doing some reasearch this is what i found:
HKS hi-power catback ( i think this what everybody is running)

Helix catback

ERZ catback

blitz catback

I need the exhaust to be completely legal and to submit to standard european laws ect...

Really i want the exhaust that will give me the most performance/sound. Price isnt too much of a worry.

Thanks very much for your help :P

Look for titanium if you want performance. How do you have a limited with a red spoiler? Pic?

Yes i will make a post in the Pictures section soon :)
Here's what i found for titanium exhausts:
ApexI N1 ExTi Subaru WRX STI Cat Back Exhaust

HKS WRX STI Carbon Titanium Cat Back Exhaust Carbon-Ti

Can you refer me to any other titanium exhausts that will fit?

For sound I'd look into a Prodrive, scoobysport or Stromung. Those are my favorites (and many others) and they don't have the huge coffee can muffler with jdm tyte angles.
They also are on the quieter side of aftermarket exhausts, which IMO is a good thing. The ones you are looking at are going to be ridiculous-car-alarm-starting Loud.

I have a Magnaflow Ti catback thats just sitting in my garage. I changed over to the Worx Tuning F3 catback to get a quieter ride without needing a silencer.
On your side of the pond, id say scoobysport or stromung will be your best choice for performance and stock look.
A catback will not affect your emissions legality, so as long as you get a downpipe with a hi-flow cat, you would be fine for emissions testings.
As far as your countries legalities for aftermarket exhausts, thats up to you to find out. You may not even be allowed to legally install an aftermarket exhaust on the car if you drive it on public roads where you are.

07 STI limiteds only come in Satin White Pearl or Urban Gray Metallic

can you post pictures of your car w/ the red spoiler to better pick a matching exhaust

I'm partial to the Remus racing titanium dual tip. Its on my car and it sounds great. Might be kinda loud though.

Try the genome axleback. No performance gains, but the catbacks don't offer much if any performance anyway. I just picked up a used one and it is awesome. Very quiet idle and its only loud when you want it to be if you know what I mean.

his profile says silver, maybe gray is silver to him.
| Wylan | 12-23-2006 12:47 PM |
If you are lookinfor a performance enhancing exhaust, you are gonna have to get a turboback (Downpipe and catback) and some form of aftermarket engine management to prevent boost creep. Catbacks give you at best 3-4 HP

i say SPT 3" CATBACK!!!

Just installed the new full stainless cobb cbe on my 02 wrx.
The sound is music to my ears. Not too loud, not too soft. No droning. Perfect fit.
all your options it looks like are canister type exhaust so im not sure if your open to a regular exhaust but you cant beat the sound.

yeah I put the licence plate thing on... I just shelled out 650 bucks so im leaving the damn thing on a few days :)

You say that you want this legal, well Id say 99 to 99.9 % of the people that are on these boards have very little idea of what is legal or not in Europe.
OK, maybe the 99% is off, but still, there arent too many exhaust systems that are 100% legal in the eyes of our government here in the states.

I have the Cobb CBE exhaust on my 07 Limited. I have the original model that was made by Stromung for Cobb. Looks almost identical to this one with the exception of the tip on my is not angle cut.
I love the sound. IMO, nothing sounds better or looks better. No nasty boy racer look either.

prodrive or cobb
| kamil212 | 01-05-2007 09:24 AM |
^^Wow, the COBB looks nice^^
I'm looking into picking up the 07 wrx wagon and I need my subaru music.
Is the cobb cheaper if you get it directly from Stromung? ( I have the Stromung dual tip on my NA wagon now and I love it)
How does the prodrive look like?
Any nice dual tips available? (not a fan of the melon launchers)

The stromung is a bit cheaper. But they do look a bit different.
The stromung is a straight cut tip as opposed to the cobbs at a slight angle.
The cobb has different looking hangers. (better looking imo because they dont show).
Stromung does however have a new catback that is angle cut.
Stromung Straight Tip Notice Hangers. (the look fine but there different is the point im trying to make)
$589 from boxer4racing
Stromung Angle Tip (pretty new I think) Pretty similar to the cobb except the hangers again and I think the tip is just single wall and not rolled over like the cobb.
$579 from boxer4racing
And the Cobb. Notice the difference in the hangers. And the way the Tip is angled and Rolled. $650 from anywhere you find it

So in the end the cobb is about 60-70 bucks more... What made me choose the cobb over the stromung was really just the way the hangers are orientated and the fact that at Rallysportdirect.com you get free shipping for orders over 200 bucks.
The new anglecut stromung is slick though.

^^WOW, thanks^^
I was just looking at boxer4racing since that's where I got my Stromung from last time.
It looks like it's going to be either the Stromung dual tip or the cobb (probably the entire cobb stage 2 package :D )
I'm still gonna try to find some people locally at the meets for some hands on research.

Cool good luck.
I dont think you would be unhappy either way you went.
Like I said my determining factor was because Rallysportdirect did free shipping. So I figured $650 with free shipping would come out damn close to ordering the stromung for $580 with shipping.
They both look and sound wonderfull so it really comes down to personal preference. And price I guess if you bought the cobb from somewhere you would have to pay shipping.

To bad there are probably only a handfull of wrx/sti's in the nashville area with any kind of exhaust. I had to make my decision soley on sound clips, but I couldnt be more happy Im glad I took the time to research it and get the right one for me.

Tanabe Concept blue G is pretty nice.
And it's an affordable turbo back exhaust.
