I just did something kinda ghetto! part 1

I just did something kinda ghetto!
I just was at the bank and decided to stop by pep boys next door to get a plain license plate frame to replace the dealer one. I walked behind my car and checked that I had black screws before I went in. Well, only the bottom had black, and I didn't feel like going out again. So instead of going back to the store to get black screws for the top, I used a sharpie on them. :disco:

I did the same thing but with BBQ spray paint. It was the only thing I had that was black.
kenchan 07-19-2003 01:51 PM

hahhaa, i did that too(painted black) until i got black screws next time i had to take off the plate to renew the sticker. :)

the use of markers and spray paint isn't neccesarily ghetto....its all on the individual....

i used a sharpie on my fog light cover screw heads...looks like a common thing doing that
TSINightFall 07-19-2003 04:31 PM

My wife tried painting my fog light cover screws, but it eventually chipped off. Its time for the sharpie!

Hahaha. I don't feel so bad knowing I'm not the only one.

But I used a very special sharpie:

An industrial one!

* Specially formulated ink for industrial, laboratory, and commercial use.
* Remains permanent under most chemical washes and extreme heat and steam (up to 500 degrees F)

looks like i'd have to invest in one of those industrial strenth ones...

I use those all the time at work I have to special order them. I mark food cans that have to go through a steam process and still be readable. They are good for all sort of stuff, except um for your 3 year old daughter to play with, apparently...

My friend had a black CRX and would use a sharpie to cover his chips.
Judah 07-20-2003 10:59 AM

Looks like we have a sharpie specialist here.
The Ru 08-11-2003 09:00 PM

heres the stuff i "ghetto painted" myself.

The little side grill pieces turned out good.

I don't think it's to ghetto.
They are going to get chipped to death anyway from freeway driving. I have seen nice silver paint at car stores usually used for touch up, yet a huge can of it. It seams to be good quality compared to regular paint. I used this type in black.....

I did my center grill piece and fog covers.

that looks damn good. Nice wheels. I miss my gold wheels sometimes....

NewShockerGuy 08-12-2003 12:00 AM

You guys are joking right?? You used silver sharpie to color the grill peices and the fog light covers and wing risers??? If that's for real it looks DAMN good! Not ghetto at all infact. That just boggles my mind that it would look that nice!

Wow.!

nah i used spray paint, not the sharpie....lol

Now that would be amazing...

ian
IronMonkeyL255 08-12-2003 11:58 AM

That would have taken QUITE a few sharpies... I used some flat black touch-up paint when my windshield wiper arms started showing some metal. I plan on taking them off and sanding them, then spraypainting them when the weather stabilizes.

Yawwwwwp

I did the same thing myself, and they are still black after several months. I forgot I did it until I read this post.
SjpWrx 08-12-2003 05:03 PM

YOUR ALL GHETTO! your cars are now ghettoized:lol:
Need4Boost 08-12-2003 05:52 PM

You do what you gotta do sometimes. :)
JaBooo 08-12-2003 06:58 PM

awsome
I'm thinking about coloring my whole car with a sharpie....
Who needs "java black pearl" when you can have "sharpie black" for so much cheaper...
Adiliyo 08-12-2003 11:40 PM

 ...sharpie black

it's all good though, it's not like you smoked your rear lights with a sharpie..one of my friends did that to his avalon when we were back in high school...but screws? that's not getto, they are just screws after all :)
