Awsome!
Kwyjibo 11-14-2003 07:46 PM

don't powdercoat...do a liquid coat.

There is a place in Los Angeles called Speedline Finishing. Call 411 and get their number and find out exactly what liquid coating is (not sure if that's what you call it). Then find a place local to you that does it.

My buddy got some BBS wheels done in murcialago (sp?) black and they look sweet as hell.

Ok...

Why is it better than powder coating?

IMHO it looks MUCH nicer than powder coating. The finish comes off looking more like paint. With a clear coat and everything.

The place i'm talking about can do ANY automotive color, and i think it was about $75 per wheel.

i'll try and find a pic...

You're photoshop skills need some work. Your wheels look like stop signs.

Hey, you asked... ;)

MAD REX 11-15-2003 01:31 PM

I guess the settings on my monitor are darker and I can't see them. Oh well.

looks nice, thats what I'm doing to my stockers when I get my 17's, making them look just like that w/ some nice snow tires.... powdercoat is nice.
Kwyjibo 11-15-2003 08:44 PM

here is the best i could get....

CAUTION...its 2.25MB
http://www.constructionloancenter.com/car/bbs.jpg

These pics do not do the wheels justice....the clear coat makes them shine like automotive paint....just amazing.

That does look nice. But powdercoat can have the same glossy appearance.

exactly, you can get your powdercoat with different gloss properties, different textures, etc. the place i go through does wheels for $25 a pop too, can't beat that!
OneManArmy 11-17-2003 02:56 PM

$25 each?......is that preprepped or do they strip them and prep them?

I called a few places and the absolute cheapest was

$25 / wheel to powdercoat

$5-15 / wheel to strip existing paint

Most expensive I found was like

$50 / wheel to strip paint

$160 for all four to powdercoat
billzebub 11-17-2003 11:24 PM

I did want to mention I noticed a chip in my powder-coat over the weekend when cleaning the wheels. Aiigh!
