The WRX weighs enough! Although, that extra weight might actually fix the understeer problem. Its not worth borrowing an idea from Honda.
128d 11-19-2001 11:33 PM

Understeer? What are you looking at? This mod if for a trunk lid.
Eric SS 11-19-2001 11:37 PM

That is weird!

Eric
SAW 11-19-2001 11:39 PM

The WRX displays understeer in some situations.

The trunk lift mod will no doubt add weight to the rear of the car.

More weight in the rear causes the tail to wag.

Now there is a tendancy to oversteer.
Ripper 11-20-2001 12:08 AM

OMG all our IQ's just for looking at that stupid trunk. That is totally unnecessary and ugly. Kinda reminds you of a delorean's doors.

Eric SS 11-20-2001 12:22 AM

I bet he put it there so when he auto crosses it gives him more downforce!

Eric
quentinberg007 11-20-2001 12:36 AM

ugly... ignorant... hopefully he breaks his altezza taillights doing that foolishness.... damn altezza's.... :monkey:
illmatic 11-20-2001 01:28 AM

Hahaha, I bet he doubles it as a wing.
topher 11-20-2001 01:33 AM

i gotta give him credit for the original idea, and actually being able to do it. but i dont see why he would trick out a 4 door lx auto? at least a coupe.

Performance mods include a cold air intake(in progress) and trim paint. you better not upset this guy, he's fast!
trojan9x 11-20-2001 11:45 AM

i actually think that it's not that bad.

Give the guy credit for originality
chkltcow 11-20-2001 11:47 AM

It's been done before. No points for originality... perhaps some for ingenuity for figuring out how to do it so cheap.... but still. Ugh! :P

hmmm....

Maybe I can help lower the drag on the trunk!
Oquipah 11-20-2001 12:16 PM

I think it's actually pretty cool. If it's been done by others, then I've never seen it before. Kudos to making a boring Honda sedan a little unique.

Of course I'm not planning on doing that to my Legacy, until I see the dyno results that is!

Peace
nqwan 11-20-2001 03:59 PM

actually that doesnt look like too complicated of a thing to do. it looks like the normal trunk lid arm connector thingies, except that instead of being entirely welded to the trunk, they're connected at the ends using a pivot joint thing...

***Disclaimer: Please disregard my simplified language. My brain has been crapping out on me lately...***

I am sitting here drunk after drinking some beer. Hehe you know how hard it is to type in the dark, drunk. Anyways the trunk looks ok but when you wrote puke I ran to the toilet. Sorry for my miscomposure I will pay for it in the morning. Think its good thinking on his part. You know that some lady made a automatic mash potato maker this year. I want one but she said it won't come out for a while cause she can't find people to make it for her. makes no sense I know. Sorry
mrbell 11-21-2001 10:54 AM

I don't see why we all have to bash a guy for trying to make his car his own... I mean, so you don't like it, I think it's a little silly, but who the **** are you guys to say what he should or shouldn't be doing? It's people like you that started this stupid war we are now in...

now, I have to say, it's kind of a neat idea, but it just seems like it'd be that much harder to get stuff in your trunk, if it's already a tight fit thru the opening...

It's because they don't own a subaru
Danny5 11-21-2001 11:17 AM

If and when I get my car back, I am going to look at this mod more in depth.

As far as weight is concerned, you are talking about 2 hinges. Maybe a whole whopping lb of extra weight in the rear.

As far as usefulness is concerned, probably none. But it is different, and show judges like different. (Ack! My show side is showing  )

and WRX Potential, you will show a little more tact and tolerance in my forum, thankyou very much. :)

yes yes subaru's rule

but, don't bash this guy because he has a honda

the idea's neat but I think the rear of the trunk would leak because the seal would not be tight enough.

also SubEd the puking smile was the best.

At last, a mystery solved. This is the prototype for the Pontiac Aztek!

Or, this is a prototype air turbulence inducer device to slow down NASCAR racers.

10 points for creativity ... I wonder if he tried this with the hood yet?
fullvision 11-22-2001 09:35 AM

Is that a trunk for handicapped? Great idea
HondaH8er 11-22-2001 03:42 PM

I don't think that looks too bad. And like he said, you can return it to stock by simply removing the hinges, so if it doesn't work well for sealing or rattles, you could leave it normal until a show or something, then put the hinges in. Heck, I might even try it myself, I think the RS trunk holding it's wing up high would look kinda cool. But there aren't any shows anytime soon, and it's rainy season, so I have about 6 months to decide if I want to try it or not.
BrysImpreza 11-22-2001 03:52 PM

For functionality I think its pretty dope, being 6' 4" I have a tendency to smack my head on my trunk lid basically daily, that mod would help me out a bit.

As for using it as a spoiler, wouldn't suprise me if I saw some dumb***** kid flying down the road with that goin' on.

Bry.
