Inside Windshield Cleaning Problems

I don't know what it is but I can't seem to keep my windshield clean on the inside. I've never had this problem before. No matter how often I clean it, it gets filmed over shortly. I don't know if it's something coming out of the plastic or what. I don't smoke and have washed the inside with a variety of products, Windex, foam sprays, vinegar, three times a week and it keeps coming back in a day or two. It has been hot and the windows are usually closed.
Anyone else having this problem and figured out a good cleaner? Hwy61

i always use 409 surface cleaner and go over it at least 3 times... stays clean for a good amount of time. that, and never use your defroster vents.

Use a damp sponge with a little liquid dish soap on it. Rinse to get all the soap residue off and then use a foam type window cleaner. The soap cuts through the greasy film caused by the interior plastic & vinyl. This works better than anything else and it's cheap. :)

It's coming from your dash plastic. Try throwing a towel over the dash on hot days when you park it. Also check to make sure no liquids are sitting around on hot days. They evaporate and condense on the inside of the glass.

Maybe you have too much armor-all or whatever you use on the dash that keeps evaporating.
For the inside, I clean with a damp microfiber towel (just use water) followed by a dry microfiber. Works really well and not much elbow grease needed.

+! for Stoner's InvisiGlass (or some such name). I use it w/ a microfiber towel and it's the best I've found so far, after much trial and error - mostly error.

I use Stoner's Invisible Glass with newspaper to clean all my glass inside and out. I don't have to do the inside of the windshield but maybe once every 6-8 weeks.

Another vote for Stoner's IG with microfiber towel. Just make sure your towel is completely clean and free of any washing detergent/shampoo.
Your plastic dash is going to give off some vapor when it's brand new. How much would depend alot on the atmospheric condition. But it will stop eventually.

not sure if this applies to you, but smoking inside your car helps to cause that film too. my film didn't appear until i broke down and started to smoke inside the car. also, if you move your vent from recirc to outside, it helps too. at least it does for me.

I second the too much armor-all ...i know, i use it too much too :) and have the same problem with dirty interior windshield..
... but my remedy is to keep one of those mini California-Dusters and wipe down the windshield... poof ! Streaks & smears are gone, and they tend to stay away for a good bit too...

Some good advice. No I don't smoke. Actually the newspaper thing has been recommended by Consumer Report rag for years. Seems they even have their own receipe for a wash.
I never use Armor All or anything like it. Never have been able to stand that short of thing. Just soap and water on a towel. I'd shoot a man ever sprayed any of that fragrance in my car. Make it smell like a cheap hotel forever. Yep I'd shoot him. Never black my tires either, seems a total waste as it washes off immediately. I do wash the car 2 to 3 times weekly, black you know.
I've heard of stuff coming out of the plastic in the dash and that might be some of the problem especially in hot weather with the windows up. Will get some Stoners and other stuff and see if I can improve the situation. Thanks all. Hwy61

Since it's an 05 and the plastic is new, what you're most likely seeing is the off-gassing from the plastic inside the car... Especially the dash and any plastic like that. I am pretty sure that this is also what gives your car "new car smell" - the plastic curing completely. The problem will dissipate as the plastic cures completely.
If you've got serious glass issues (water spots, crud built up), there are other products out there to address that, as well.
However, everyone else had good recommendations. I've never liked the newspaper thing, myself but do rely on a good automotive glass cleaner + microfiber for the interior glass.

I have always used a car wax or polish. Cleans like a dream. Looks so clean that it looks like the glass is not even there.

Sprayway glass cleaner and micro fiber towels work great for me, Stoner's is also another solid choice.
