Procarparts new indiglo gauges
Does anyone have pics installed or bought these? Not the regular ones, the new reverse euro ones they are selling like these:

The night pic looks nice, but why is it that NO ONE will make a set that looks like that at night and be black faced during the day (like the stock WRX gages)? This is not a hard thing and more people prefer it that way for the WRX (according to a previous vendor thread).

42202sub, how hard were they to install? Do you have to take the needles off? Thanks for any help.

It took me about an hour.
No, you do not have to take the needles off. The gauges SIMPLY fit over the needles.
Looks Cool as HELL!

I like those too (wanna see pix), but DAMN I have reservations with ordering through ProCarParts. I WANT to order one of their body kits for my car, and I sent them an email so I can get shipping cost for the whole thing and I send them my address and their own SKU numbers (right off their website) and the guys is telling me he can't find the SKU in their computer. And on top of that, they have a ton of misspellings on their site (one of them is IN the SKU code). I mean its THEIR freakin number, and they can't find the info  . Thats kinda scared me from ordering from them :( .
Too bad too, cuz I am really ready to buy that kit and these Indiglo Guages from them.
[Sorry for posting something that didn't have that much to do with the gauges, but I figured I would give you guys my current experience with ProCarParts, since thats the company thats selling these guages. But if anyone else has better experience with this vendor - PLEASE let me know]

Hmm, I'm still trying to figure something out.
Their white gauges? How is it possible that they turn black? I would think that they would still be white, with no light on them, and if that was the case, They wouldnt be as black as the picture shows.
I dont know that much aboug guages, just tryin to figure it out.

It must be the material they use or something..I had a 99 Eclipse 10th aniversary edition that had white faced (non-idiglo) gauges stock.....white during the day, black at night ....I couldnt figure it out either...pretty cool though.

42202sub, sorry to keep bugging you but I have a few more quick questions....where did you get the power for the gauges' lights?...also, do you leave the stock bulbs and gauges there? Thanks a lot, Rob

Ummmmmm I would seriously doubt changing your guage faces are gonna throw a CEL, now if your asking if the new faces would interfere with the Check engine indicator lighting up ....NO

Grounded it in the stering column. Yes, you leave the stock bulbs in......unless you don't want your needles to glow:)

procarparts.com service
Just so you all know, dealing with Procarparts.com was the WORST customer service I have ever dealt with. When I won an auction from them, it took over a week to get a real response from them by phone or email instead of their stupid replies that just proves they don't read the emails, just reply a standard reply. Got my stuff now, but will never do business with them again.

needles
I can't emphasize this enough, DO NOT REMOVE THE NEEDLES. I installed the indiglo guages from Vivid over the weekend, and without any instructions, removed the @#$%@#$ needles!!! Now they're all messed up and out of whack, and I'm thinking the only way to fix is to find a new combo guage unit. Talked to a Subaru tech on Sunday, and they said that the combo guages are electromagnetic, so once you take them out, it's pretty much impossible to re-calibrate. Just a word to the wise...

Re: needles
I second this post. I replaced my stock guage faces in a 96 GSR last summer. I removed the needles, not knowing thay are spring loaded. Jumped in the car after the install to check them out. It was showing about 40mph but running about 75krpm in 3rd, about ~85+mph. It was a pain in the a$$ to get them lined out.

fuzzylogic - no doubt!!! I just ordered factory replacements from subaru - $200...am going to put together an install guide for the indiglo replacements so others have a clear set of instructions and can avoid wrecking their factory guages.

SEAWRX: I don;t understand why it would be so immpossible to reset the needles - I'm NOT saying that it wouldn't be a pain in the as$, but should still be doable.
I read a while back that someone bought those glowing needles - and with those you HAVE to remove the needles. The key was knwoing where to put them back after.
Like for your speedo, you could get it VERY close if you have someone drive their car a SET speed, and then you see what yours is reading (say the other car is going 40, and your says 67, then you know that yours are 27mph too high).
Also, our cars idle at pretty much a set speed, so turn your car on - let it warm up, and then see what RPM its saying. If it shows that its idling at 3K, then you know to move your needles down about 2500 RPM.
The REALLY smart thing that I read the person did was take a pic of the needles right before he took them out, so he knew pretty much exactly where they should be after he installed the glowing needle mod.
Like I said, I have heard that its a total pain to do, but I just feal bad hearing that you had to order a whole new cluster.
Good luck

If you where to take the little black "stopper" at the 0mph point on the guage off your needle would spin till it unwound itself. Its a real paind to get them to read right. It never was the same, even worse off at speeds >80mph.

HazDaz - totally agree that it's possible to recalibrate the needles, and I've pretty much got my oil temp and fuel ones back in action, but the others are screwed because in addition to getting them to line up on the 0, you also have to make sure that when you put them back in that you don't push too hard. I wound up snapping them back in (there's a little ridge on the end of the needle pin), but if you push too far, the needle catches on the guage panel. Then you have to pull the needle out little by little, and as you can imagine, the more you mess with them, the less likely they are to stay where you want em to. Bottom line - you can recalibrate, but it's never going to be 100%.
Fuzzylogic - know exactly what you mean about the tension (electromagnetic) that the needles are set at, esp. for the tach and how hard it is to get them back to 0. For example, I reset the tach to 0 and when I rev, there's a significant delay in the time it takes to register the rev.
Anyway, I should get my new factory guages tomorrow, so I'll reinstall, take lots of pics, and post detailed instructions so that this never happens again!!!

SeaWRX,
Let me know how this goes. I tried installing intelliglow needles back in September and HAD to pull the needles off for the install. Ever since then the gauges have been a little off and the gas gauge doesn't even MOVE! (i use the odometer to know when to fill up!) $200 seems reasonable, but what did it get you?

Yspinem - Just installed the new factory guages and indiglo cover this morning. Went flawless. After replacing the factory guages ($200 from Subaru), I carefully (and I mean carefully) slid the indiglos over the needles. I had to move the needles by hand (softly) to 12:00 in order to get the indiglo over the tach. You have to bend the indiglo a little bit (again, softly) to slide em over the needles. Did the same thing for the fuel/temp guage - slide the indiglo over the fuel needle first, and then gently over the temp guage. Put everything back together and you're done. I'm going to post full instructions w/ pics later tonight (and send a copy to Vivid so they can ship an install doc w/ em in the future. Hope this helps...good luck.

WOOW! Those are nice! Does anyone know of where I can get a set of indiglows for a 93 Impreza L? Or heck even new gauges?
