I would thing that a T-Top WRX or Targa like the Supra would look pretty bad. On a GC it might not look to bad, but you have four doors, not two.

Only targra's are the T tops if I remember right. And your car would crush like a can if it were to roll, unless it was done right. I bet I know some one that would do it and do it right for ya but it would cost like 8k plus you would have to repaint your car when he is done.

I agree, Nobody ever said don't be unique. It was just extreamly harsh advice for a silly question that could have been answered himslef if he had sat and thought about the idea

Doesn't mean anyone has to flame the guy. I dunno about you but when I'm in public, at a bar, at class, whatever... if I see someone who is being an idiot, or tries to talk to me and I don't want to I ignore them. Why doesn't that apply to the internet? All you're gonna accomplish by flaming the guy is start a big stupid discussion like this and make him angry and wanna do it even more to piss guys like you off. If there is a way to retain or reinforce structural integrity then I say go for it...Maybe a couple extra Kevlar Composite beams run through the t-top would help a bit in case of rolling. :)

I think subaru has fairly unique sub-structure anyway. The frameless doors lead to some interesting roof geometry to retain the lateral stiffness necessary to win WRC races. I think there would have to be some MAJOR lateral supports added to keep the car stable. Say good-bye to the fold down rear seats. Convertables are much heavier for a reason. Targa top might be easier, but not much. Unless I was an automotive engineer I would not attempt it. I think it would look cool though.

we have a bar running through the middle of the roof, its kinda where the dome light is. Its why we can't have a normal sunroof. If you Targa the top, you can only cut away until that bar, which will not give what you probably want. As far as structally, yes it will change the car, but if you have a roll bar you would be fine

Hell ... while your at it, why don't you take a chainsaw and saw the top off... convertible! I'm not an expert at fabric so I can't help you in that department.
Just don't forget to roll down ur windows, and you might want to cover the interior with plastic made from plastic bags from the groceries.
