Nurburgring times list?

is there a list of cars raced on Nurburgring I'm curious how the Subarus compared to the other cars.
| joubtt | 10-22-2004 01:49 AM |
I'm not sure if it's from Nur but there's a clip of a Evo vs Sti and it lists the times at that track.

Here is a list of times from Top Gear. Not the Nurburgring but should give you an idea. That's the UK Sti btw.

that list is kind of misleading.. some of those times are wet laps (like the nsx type R for one)

Technically they would all be misleading simply because of varying track temps but I don't think they'd be able to get that many cars out at once. :p

Haha.. Down on that list the Toyota Supra and a BMW X5 have practically the same time. :)

yea the bmw x5 le mans, which has a v10 f1 motor in it. :)

...and Hans Stuck driving.

I know that a stock Porsche Carrera GT recently set the new "road" car record by chaving a few tenths off of the Gemballa Porsche time to 7:32.
I also have a clip of the GT doing a "flyby" of the tourist start/stop and it sounds like a jet.
There is also a clip of a v8 spec c STi doing a 8:06.9 lap. Talk about commitment...yikes!

There's one here:
http://www.944-fans.de/Nordschleife/Rundenzeiten/zeiten_ams_sa.htm
and another one there:
http://www.nordschleife.no
and a more comprehensive site which also lists the lap time at Hockenheim, track temps, acceleration, braking, lateral acceleration etc.
All tests on this site are performed by the same magazine and the same driver:

Almost - no turbos just the usual 6.0L V12 from the McLaren F1. Good for about 700bhp in the X5 without the restrictors of the LM cars.

When you say Nurburgring, do you mean the new GP circuit or the Nordschleife?
John Felstead has done the old track in < 8:24 (I can't remember his exact time, but it is somewhere in the Nurburgring video thread as referenced above). His car is under 300HP I think.

Which means that the Ford GT would probably split the Porsche and Enzo, but for $400,000 less.

When most people refer to the Nurburgring they mean the Nordschleife (north loop) which is the 20km track to the north of the GP circuit.
Times from tourist drives are "BTG"-bridge to gantry, prominent marks you can use to guage your lap times. Most folks add ~25 seconds to a BTG time for a full lap estimate. Most times you see on the web sites are not from tourist drives but are of the full Nordschleife, including the long straight.

yep, my quickest lap at the Nurburgring is just under 8 minutes BTG, which works out about 8:20 for a full lap, that was in my westfield.
When i was over there at easter i met the test driver for Subaru Japan who was with the new Spec C limited edition. Just after i left they set a new lap record for an Impreza, breaking the 8 minute mark for the first time.
Here is the car and the sticker on the boot. They are making 300 of this limited edition.

[shameless plug]You can now buy a DVD of me at the Nurburgring in my STi5 TypeRA, have a look in the vendors area[/shameless plug] :D

John you always have the coolest, top secret information! The Spec C is such a wonderful car, I mean you have a lap time that is right up there or better then some of the most exotic cars in the world!
I would like to get that dvd also, I will check it out.

Thanks Jesse. The Japanese driver was very cool, he had lots of japanese journalists with him doing a pre-launch on the car, officially it didnt exist at that time, but he was happy to chat about the changes they made to the spec C after testing at the nurburgring, such as the 8" wide wheels with larger PCD bolt pattern, larger hub assemblies, change of front LSD design and the Yaw sensor adition to the DCCD-A. Subaru now have a perminant test centre at the nurburgring that was being built this summer, they have plans to test all the major models there which has to be a good thing. :)

In the May 2004 Sport Auto magazine ... they tested a Euro 2.0 liter STI vs a Euro EVO7 ... the STI did the Ring in 8:24 ... the Evo7 8:25. This Euro STI had only 265 german HP ... strange ... I thought german HP were "smaller" the ours, ie. they usually have more of them compared to our engines?
They attributed the STI's faster time to it's new better 070 tires ... although most of the sections show higher speeds for the EVO ?

This was a large hi-rez scan ... I guess Nasioc limits the size of the images we can post ?

Thats all the Euro Spec STi engine makes. You have to pay an extra 2K for the PPP upgrade to get 300BHP.
