orange vents? part 1

RuCKuS 01-12-2002 11:24 PM

orange vents?...

to anyone with a 2001 or earlier 2.5RS...have any of you painted the vents in your bumper?...you know...the ones below the turn signals...if so...how do they look?...i tried to get rid of all the clearly visible orange on the exterior of my car...lightbulbs do not count...but yah...i took out those vents for now...anyway...i'm just wondering how they would look when it's color matched with the body...kay...thanks...

Yep, use spray paint and paint your vents, it looks really nice. Just be sure to put like 3+ coats. They look real nice, mine are silver and it really matches my BRP car. I don't know about your car...the orange should blend in right? I would think it would actually match with your car...i dont know...

I did mine in silver since I have clear fender markers, and DIY side markers....

 sorry for the large pic, but it is easier to see the detail....

EDIT: 1792x1200 isn't large, it's HUGE ;)! Made things a bit more board-friendly

oh...i meant...what should i do about the orange vents on my rpb car...haha...but yah...thanks for the input people :)

Mine's silver and I painted the vents gloss black. They look fine. Make sure you hit them with fine sandpaper or steel wool or something to break the gloss before you paint, or they'll chip right off.

Why just paint em? I cut out the vents and put some guard in it's place.

i'd like to know how to do that too if you got info on it... wanna install in my vents and anywhere else too please... =) there was someone on I-club that did sell them but i think he no longer responds to i-clubbers... our loss...

Miracle Worker, got any more pics of your front grill?
HondaH8er 01-14-2002 04:30 AM

I cut the vanes out of the passenger side one to help the intake, and then painted the leftover ring and the other vent with Silverthorne touchup paint from the dealership. Blends in perfectly, and has held up just fine.

little vent

did yall take off the little vent below the turn signals before painting or just painted it while it was on the front bumper?
RuCKuS 01-14-2002 11:47 AM

i'm pretty sure they took it off...it's really easy...all you need is a flat tip screwdriver and pry at the top of the vents...oh...and maybe an old rag or something to keep you from scratching the paint on your bumper while you take it off...
STi PWR 01-14-2002 12:20 PM

I painted mine silver to till I put a cold air on the car then i swicted to mesh

But it is really easy to do
spotlfe 01-14-2002 02:20 PM

eh??

for the mechanically not so incline... please be more specific about instructions instead of "its real easy." thanx people... ;)
dRu888 01-14-2002 03:02 PM

uh..like wat ruckus said, use a flat-head screw driver and they just pop off. Then when you're done, pop em back in.
garface 01-14-2002 04:01 PM

To be safe, just take out the turn signal and stick your hand in there. Pop the little tabs loose and it should come right out and no pointy sharp objects to worry about messing up your paint.
Snowman 01-14-2002 05:49 PM

Here are some pics of what I did with them:

1st, cut out the vents
Snowman 01-14-2002 05:53 PM

2nd, add gutter guard
Snowman 01-14-2002 05:54 PM

Then slap them on your car
