how legal is that, to remove the amber from the lights?
| RSarte | 11-26-2003 09:50 AM |
Time to put on some real foglights, JDM or EDM sized ones!;) Yeah what happened to the "real" RS?
The red is nice! For some reason those stock wheels looks worst on the '04's. Hurry up and change them.
Just curious why you didn't go for a WRX? You must really like the low-end torque.
Congrats!

Nobody has to be the wiser if you put in SilverVision bulbs :). Basically they are light bulbs that don't have the orange shell but still lights up amber. You can get them here:

You shouldn't have painted them black. You could go for the Spec C Limited look. ;)

Notice any dimished high beam output since the reflector part in front of the lamp itself isn't silver anymore???
Looks good. :)

Thats just the bezel thats painted black, none of the reflector has been painted. The bezel doesnt put any light on the road, if anything it creates more stray light.
BTW theres nothing "fake" about that RS. Its just as REAL as your 98-01 RS's. Stop being stuck up a-holes.

I wanna do mine like that on my STI , I have a couple of questions .What kind of paint did you use ?? it looks really good ! Is that flat black ??Did you have to tape off the reflector parts ?? All and all was it a hard job ?? I`m scared to do it with $800.00ea HID`s in my sti ...:D . Once again "great job "!!! I figuired a few banana`s couldn`t hurt .
| skyhawk | 11-29-2003 11:46 PM |
I want to do mine also, but instead of black I would like to paint the inside blue to match my body color. Now I just have to find some paint that will match the body close enough. Either way it looks much better than stock, don't like the big orange reflectors.

not that hard to do.....it is bbq/ stove paint from wall mart..its high temp and a flat black...i did have to take off the corner parking lamps because i couldnt figure out how to remove them. but i tape over it, and used an Xacto knife.

I've been debating whether to do the blacked out mod on my white. Some times it looks like the housing is dark enough .. having a dark chrome effect which I prefer (like in the pic below). At other times it would look too light, which makes me want to black it out, but I've only seen a couple of pics of white with the blacked out mod and they don't look as good as the "dark chrome" appearance.

Alright heres the new project that i just started, some ideas for you all...or if you want one, i can build you on for a small charge!
Step one: getting some good fog lights to light up the night!!

i picked up some good IPF's, they run about $130 for the top of the line.
Step 2: is to get a 90degreee bar, and cut and bend to your shape.

and weld the seem shut
Step 3: Grind all the ugly welds to a nice seemless bar!

Step 4: Find some bolts you can weld on to the back of your 90degree bar. These bolts will go right where your plate mounts right now, behind the black plastic piece you have on your car. It's very simple to do this, took me about 2 hours for the whole project!!

heres some finished product pictures, turned out pretty good!
