Prodrive lip painted & mounted

Turned out exactly like I wanted it. Discrete (to say the least) but
making the front sit a bit lower. Sorry for the dirty side of the car.

Lip looks great. Nice and subtle, if you can say that about the WRX. What wheels/size are those? Nice meaty look for a snow set up.
Mikael_S 12-23-2001 11:37 AM

That's 16x7 PCW EMR186 wheels with Nokian Hakkapeliitta 205/50 studless winter tires. I'm really impressed with the performance of these tires. Of course on packed snow and ice studded tires are better.

Looks nice. Did I miss something? When did mud flaps become available for the sedan?
lethargicman 12-23-2001 04:04 PM

That lip looks great! The headlights look rad too! Very clean car, man.

P.S. SNOW IS GOOD! ! ! ! !

By the way, did you know someone spray painted your front license plate? Damn vandles!!

Where can I get this lip and how much?

Also where can I get the clear lights for the front fenders?

thanks in advance!

I like the look of your car alot. Nice job.

And just when I though I had made up my mind on the STI lip. That Prodrive lip sure looks nice on your car.
WRX Potential 12-23-2001 10:41 PM

very nice!

hell yeah, i love the subtle approach - it looks as if the lip protrudes a little furthur from the bumper than stock is that true? if so then i think i'm sold, very nice.
Kostamojen 12-24-2001 02:24 AM

Wow, I havent seen that painted yet, it looks great!!! I think it would look awesome with the new STi style grill, and the UK300 lights painted to match :)
Rzk 12-24-2001 11:31 AM

Sweet. Looks very clean.

The dealer put some on for me free and added the RS floor mats.
Mikael_S 12-26-2001 01:41 PM

Thanks for all replies. I got the lip from Performance Subaru, Coleraine, N.Ireland: http://www.performancesubaru.co.uk
Price 293 GBP plus shipping.
Clear lights are Subaru parts. Mud flaps are Subaru ones for the sedan NA, the fronts must be cutted to make room for the side skirt.

Hi,

looks nice--I've been looking for something like that.
Do you have a direct front picture?

thanks,

Nice...I wonder what it'll look like if you have the STI grill on...

Grab a STi hood scoop from vividracing.com - only $150 for us.

very nice setup, i love the headlights, are they custum or did you buy them?

I thought I read that just the Prodrive lip will give you really weird lift results resulting in high speed instability. I highly suggest you find Luke's old thread on this in the Suspension forum.

Here's the link: http://i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=100790

I misread it, looks like adding the front lip is fine(though front lift is almost gone compared to rear lift). It's the Prodrive wing and no lip that is dangerous.

Great, Subtle and Sweet!
That gets rid of the stock sharp concave(downward) front look.

my BIG question is, how.... if there is SOOO much snow on the ground there is your car SOOO clean?

I live in the states where when we get snow it, and the salt gets kicked up all over my car and it looks all white on the sides.

Please tell me your secret!!!!
jblaine 01-08-2002 10:35 PM

Damn, you beat me to it! Mine's being painted right now. Looks great, Mikael. Now I'm extra anxious to get mine finished up.

EDIT: Mikael, how did you deal with the 3 underbody lips+clips problem? Did you just detach the skidplate (I believe that's what it attaches to), mark it, drill it, and re-attach it?

Ah HA! That's how I read it too. Whew, I thought I was just really dumb with everyone posting all over about "adding the front lip with no wing = death" and me not understanding how they were coming to that conclusion.

Also, I don't know that I can agree with any comments made about the front vs. rear lift with the lip only given that we're dealing with aerodynamic parts here. I don't think it's safe to extrapolate "what the front lip only" will do based on aerodynamic tests with various wings and the lip together. Dunno...
Mikael_S 01-09-2002 11:13 AM

Jblaine: Turned out the lips aligned pretty well to the existing holes in the skidplate. No need to remove the plate. I had to enlarge the holes in the lip a little to pop in the clips. Still I have plans to remove the lips and make a permanent mount on the front bumper instead.
Be careful with that glue, I had to squeeze out the last drop.
Tip: when you are ready and the glue are on the lip, lift the back ends up and put a screwdriver or similar through the holes and into the holes in the wheel arch. Then hold it in the middle and just lift it up against the bumper. This way you don't get any glue above the mount area.

2k2blackWRX: When I took the pictures it was about 20 deg below freezing point, then the salt has no effect and roads are nice and dry. Usually the car gets covered in muck in no time in winter.
trboCIVIC&WRX 01-09-2002 02:13 PM

damn you for showing me that! ;)

now I have to buy something else....

Looks great!
