Short throw shifters

Are the cheap ones on ebay legit, or possibly detrimental to your subys tranny. Should i stick with the B&M?

take a look at the TurnInConcepts.com website, they offer a short throw which is one of the best for the subaru

It isn't even a shortened lever arm, its the linkage.
Has anybody seen or used the Group-N Competition shift linkage that rallispec has on their website? http://www.rallispec.com/prod_trans.htm

When I was looking for this upgrade earlier this year, the Kartboy had the best reviews. I installed one in my wagon as well as F&R shifter bushings and the Turn in Concepts shifter pivot bushing.
You can't go wrong with this combo.

Not only do you pay more for this, but it is incomplete, requiring Kartboy bushings to really get a good feel out of the whole package.
shortening the throw is one thing, but really improving the feel with the bushings is a must do mod.
Save your money and get a Kartboy setup from Turn In Concepts. The stiffer bushings are worth their weight in gold.
No we can really say /Thread.

Check out the Go Fast Bits shifter. It changes the shifter geometry, not just shortening the rod. I had a Kartboy for a long time and liked it but, I have short arms, and found myself reaching out for it. The GFB unit keeps the shifter rod fairly stock length and moves it back slightly while shortening the shifts to as little as 22mm's per gate. Shifts are now a flick of the wrist! They have the shortest throw on the market and three point adjustability. Sorry Tom, I love my GFB and will never go back!

We have the GFB shifter for both the 5 speed and 6 speed for A LOT less then that. Like everything else it depends on where you shop. :)

Is there a shifter out there that is height adjustable without loosing a short throw?
| njskatchmo | 11-22-2006 11:57 AM |
blue blurr, thats the whole idea of a short throw, its shorter in height thus shorter in throw. It has to do with the physics of lever arms. I think i'm the only person who didn't like their short throw. It made me feel like i was going to break 1st gear every time i put it in gear. Email tom he may be able to hook you up with a deal, he did for me.

SPT Short Throw?

Please no flames as I am new to the land of Subbies ect.....
I recently purchased an 07 WRX STi Limited and had the dealer add on the short throw shifter before I picked it up (only way I could sneak it past the wifey!)
Anyway...I cannot tell a difference in throw length at all......I went back to the dealer and sat in a few of the STi's on the lot and felt the throw distance and they all felt exactly the same as my "short throw." Is there anyway to figure out if the short throw was actually installed or if the SPT short throw is really not very short? Does anyone know how far the throw "should be" in the stock vs. SPT short throw?
THanks in advance!
Geoff

Well I know the height of the shifter can determine throw, but from what I remember its the mounting points that really contribute to the throw, not the height. I've seen a few short throw height adjustable STi shifters, but none for the wrx 5mt.

the SPT option is only a 10% reduction in throw. its hardly noticable. you can pull the shift boot off and see what color it is. the optional on the 6 spds are a dark green color. the OE one is a gold color shifter linkage rod.

Also the height of the shifter is not what makes it a true short throw, it's the relocated pivot point. A shifter with a modified pivot point can be the same height as stock and still have a shorter throw.
Given the same pivot geometry, a shorter lever will make the throw appear shorter but it's actually the same.
