Show your driving light setups
I'm looking to mount some Hella driving lights on my BRP 00 GC8. I already have the "Revolution's" style quad healamps (think smaller version of the morrettes, if you haven't seen them) mounted and a Greddy lip spoiler (both painted body color). I am looking at either two Hella Rallye 4000's or four Hella 500's. What I would like from you guys is to post pics or opinions of how you would mount them and whether you prefer the 4 smaller lights to the 2 pie plates :D I will only be using them to augment high beams so I won't go clobbering any deer (or turkey's...private joke) on the drive home though the back woods.
Some of the pics I've found are:

That black RS is bad ass! It's like a rolling ninja! You managed to find my car, but I don't like that picture, it's kind of distorted because of the angle and the lens... Here's a better one (or two). BTW, I absolutely LOVE how these look on the car and the lighting is nothing short of amazing! It gives the car a true, aggressive rally style that's really hard to capture on film. I love them.

I like the last pic. It's simple and functions properly. And I wish the morettes came like they do for the Legacy's, ie the replacement corner lights. I think they look better and everything looks better. That Legacy looks nice too. Now to just convince my parents to do the same thing with theirs. :D

kuruptONE, IIRC it is the WRX lip spoiler, and no it is not a bolt on proposition. You need to do some cutting and fitting, but from what I remember it's not impossible. Check this thread:

Morettes up top and real foglights down below do very well in the country. I don't know too much about the Revolutions replicas. From the one exmaple I saw I'd be willing got bet the lenses are nowhere near as good as the Cibie equipped Morettes. The outer lenses are normal European spec headlights, and the inner lenses are used in the Tango driving light. Get a pair of 4000s; they'll get enough attention let alone four 500s.

Those are 500 foglights; 4000s are too big. You'd want to mount driving lights up higher, anyway.

I have the Morettes and the Cibies. I must say I love the Morettes, and the high beams are amazing. I haven't been able to run the Cibies much (bad alternator caused the bulbs to blow twice) so I haven't really been able to run lows/highs/driving lights yet. I'm anxious to get the bulbs and try to aim the lights before STPR.

jasona...what lights are those mounted behind the grill? Any problems mounting them? Do they provide a good pattern from where they are mounted, or does the body occlude the light?

I think I'd get the 4 lights and mount three on the front grill in a straight line and the forth on the rear bumper for those tailgating..I mean as a better "reverse" light.

theres noy a lot of space in there... after i managed to grind and hack the mounting kits down enough to fit and squeezed them all together, theyre pretty dad-gummed solid in there!
here i went and pulled the grill out so u can see them from the back and kinda see how theyre mounted.

ive only run one tank through, and the jets were reversed so i was spraying what was probably about a 45-50 shot, so ill get back to ya when i refill and run the 75 shot i had intended. but ill tell ya i raced a wrx with an apex catback and a boost controller (dont know what its set to but i know hes tweaked it) and he was only 1-1.5 lengths ahead by 60mph. :) so i cant wait to race him again on the 75 shot.
ill get some times for it too within the next 2 weeks, but there's no 1/4 track around here so itll be 1/8 mile and 1000 ft times.

I've got the Eaglelight HID conversion in my normal headlights which gives me no reason for fog lights. So I pulled out the OEM fogs, and put in Hella 500 driving lights - which are nice pinpoint spots. Of course I rewired the fog light switch to work anytime the car accessory power is on.

Hey guys, do you think the following setup could work on a stock alternator?
-80/100w bulbs in headlights
-cibies or hellas or piaas in stock location
-hella 500's or black magics in lower grill
- and possibly two small lights in the upper grill like Jasona has on his 02 wagon ts.
your thoughts please
and as you may have noticed............I like lights:D

KC daylighters at 150 watts a piece on the stock alternator. I heard if you go with a lightened pulley you run into trouble.

have you thought of painting all that mesh grill stuff black. i think it would look alot better. IMO, there is too much contrast between silver and blue.
just my 2 cents;)
