Silver Sti Paint problem please help

Hey guys, I was washing my car the other day and i just bought my new 05 Sti last month. Anyways under the rear taillights on the passenger side, the edge of the rear bumper under the taillights have paint that isn't smooth. The paint under the clear coat is kinda rough and bumpy.(looks like when you use white out and the kind of rough surfaces it makes.) It is under the clear coat and it is not cracking or anything it just looked like someone did a crappy paint job along the edge. Is that normal? Overall paint looks fine on the panels and the car. just the edge of the rear bumper under the passenger tails have that issue.
please advise
thanks

My WRX had the same exact thing when I got, I think its from the manufacture because the car was delivery with the body protection sticker still on there when I looked at it.

mine has that on the very bottom of the doors, where the body line angles back into the sideskirt.

That's different stuff. The stuff on the bottom of the doors is there on purpose.

If you think its a problem TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER! If you have only owned it a month they should take care of it... If its a problem

Sounds like your car had lot damage; Who ever repainted or blended it did a bad prep job and got dirt in the paint.

That's called orange peel and it's designed to deflect rocks and protect from chips. Be glad it's there cuz the paint would be really chipped (even worse)without it.

what about my issue with bumper boarder under the taillights.
| Cody | 08-31-2005 12:12 AM |
Did you follow the suggestion to take it back to the dealer?
| hilfiger4you | 09-01-2005 01:46 AM |
took it to a huge collision center. The estimator told me that its no biggie because I was freaking out thinking my car was repainted when it was new at the dealers before I drove it off to lot. He told me the bumpy edge is just the ****ty plastic molding. I just happen to be the unlucky person to have a some what of a defective bumper where the edges under the taillight areas are rough and bumpy. He said when the silver paint is laid over, it makes me think its the paint when its the problem with whats under the paint. Anyways, my car is silver so he said it be pretty easy to tell if it was repainted. The guy seemed to be cool since he walked around my whole car checked all doors, edges for like 10min and did seem to find anything wrong.

I have a rock chip on my C-pillar about 3/4 of the way up....I saw the rock coming and heard it hit the pillar and thought for a split second that I would hear a window blowing next...I don't know which would have been better!?!

Why would they do it on purpose? Everyone is saying that but no one says why

They were talking about the rough patches of "goosebump" textured paint near the bottom / sides of doors. It's painted that way on purpose to prevent visible scratches and damage.
The orange peel or rough plastic under the bumper paint is a different issue.
