RaceComp Engineering 09-20-2006 11:12 AM

So who is going to Petite LeMans this year......
I have a test day there the week after I am taking the little man with me to Petite. His first big race and first ALL DAY-er at the track,..up at 7 and in bed at 9 type thing. I wish my dad took me to some races when I was 6 yrs old.....lol.

I am hoping Lexus debuts the new GT2 IS350 there........

yup.. let me dig up the story... Lexus has it on hold with a car already finished and 2 others 80% done.

I also heard that tom milner might pick up that effort.

EDIT:
here is one of the stories about it

There's some kind of curse that makes something come up every year to make me miss it. This year is no exception.

Curses, I say!!

We'll (6Gun and friends) will be there from Wed morning on. We have a large C-Class outside of 10a-b.

Stop by the SE forum for more details, or shoot Tom or I an email for contact #s.
I hope to see all of you there.
trhoppe 09-21-2006 12:40 PM

I'll be there in the RV as well.

My dad is flying down to hang out with us and I'm excited. Our 13hr codriver is the head of motorsports for Hella (who supplies lights for like 80% of that race), so we'll be hanging out with those guys some of the time

Myles - We need to meet up, I've never met you before :)

Marshall - Same thing, and you need to stop by for sure to get your set of ball joint adapters

Word.

I was supposed to be there running the new SPEED GT effort I manage that debuted at Mosport, but as the car got torched at the NASA Runoffs last week, we're skipping Petit to repair the car.

I'll still be flying out for Thu/Fri for a variety of meetings and media stuff I had planned. I fly out Friday night for a Sat/Sun test at Laguna, so if anyone wants to do something Thursday night, I might be free.

I will be there. I work for Comprent Motorsports out of Athens, GA, and we'll be running 5 cars that week in several support series. I'm the chief mechanic for a Star Mazda formula car, but we'll also have 2 Elan DP02 in the L1 Imsa Lites class, an Elan DP06 in L3 and a Porsche GT3 cup car in the GT3 Challenge. We have 1 IMSA Lites race on Thursday and 1 on Friday, and our Mazda and Porsche race on Friday, as well. I'll certainly be back on Saturday, though more inebriated. We're usually camping at 10a/10b. Is there going to be a Subie corrall?

and the fender flares are 6" on each side.

As you walk down the hill outside of 10b (towards 10a), we are the last spot behind the concrete seating. We are 2 spots up from the 'village' (folks that have 5 spots and build a village of RVs/easyups/tents). My post in the SE forum has a number of the members that are attending but we don't have any official subaru meeting.

We will be showing "movies in the lawn" after dark. We have a projector TV and full stereo that we set up behind the RV. Everyone is welcome to bring / watch their favorite racing / car related DVD. Last year we watched 'Lemans' the night before petit, you could see the screen from suzuki bridge  . We tried to keep the movies 'family rated' until 10pm or so whent eh kiddies turn in.
MPME 09-28-2006 09:02 AM

So--I'm here--the media director said pre-event ticket sales are up 60%, and that doesn't account for the tickets sold at the gate. The infield is supposed to be an absolute mess--maybe like Sebring, if we're lucky.

273 press credentials handed out--yeesh--I'm really glad ALMS is growing in stature, attendance, and awareness.
trhoppe 09-28-2006 09:04 AM

Nice! I've got a press/photo pass for the event, looking forward to it.

Marshall, I'll call you tomorrow morning to meet up.

Were at spot 28 on the out side of 10a. We had front row seats of the Volvo catching on fire during yesterdays practice. I hope they can put it back together. :(

<Used car salesman>
We are giving out free beer to all motorsports program managers that come by to check out our ball joint adapters. </used car salesman>

Do you have this photo in high rez i could use as my desktop.

And i really hope the Corvette team decides to run the entire ALMS season next year and not just Sebring and Petite.

Nice pix and real interesting race.

Shame about GT1 next year ... seems like it could very well be dead. But, I can't blame anyone for not wanting to get their asses handed to 'em by the Vettes.
