Stickers

Ok so I just got my Eibach springs in a few days ago and with them came two Eibach stickers. I also just received an RS wing which will be painted within a matter of days. After it has been painted and has dried thoroughly of course I was thinkin of puttin both the Eibach stickers on either side of the wing where the old "2.5 RS" stickers were. Im debating on whether or not I should do this. What do you guys think?

no

I'd vote no.
I don't see the need to advertise who made the springs on your car.

OK so a definite no? Anyother places on the car that would look good? Im just asking for opinions guys.(no flames) :)
| MB38 | 02-14-2004 07:57 PM |
Definite no.
Personally, I see very few occasions to put stickers on one's car. For instance... a friend of mine has a full Vishnu Stage 2 car. He put 2 small Vishnu logos (which he had made through a third party... about 3/4" tall) in the position where the "S202" sticker is on the real S202... in that little flat area just in front of the turn signal on the body of the car. It's not really that noticeable, but if you were doing a walk-around of the car in a parking lot, you'd see them.
A gigantic eibach sticker would be dangerously ricey.

If you're dying to put them on.. throw them on down low where only people who are really checking out the car will notice (like just above the side skirt). If you're not dying to.. don't advertise it.

If you aren't sponsored, just say NO to 'stickers' ;)
| Mikeyrad | 02-14-2004 09:35 PM |
It's your car, do what you want. If of course, you DIDN'T have Eibach springs that would be REALLY ricey.
| Rancid | 02-14-2004 09:37 PM |
Yes. Put them on there. Then get another one that says NOS and put it on a 2 liter coke bottle that you spray paint blue. Put that in the front window. Then, pull up to a minivan, roll down your window, and say "Got NAWWWWWS?"

I got bitten by the sticker bug, but it was mainly mountain bike company stickers. I wouldn't ever put manufacturer stickers for carparts on my car.
I don't know about you, but I like to leave people guessing at what's under my car. Let them wonder if you have 200hp, or 500hp. Let them think the car is a turd through the turns. When you blow the doors off of them, the expression is priceless.
When somone in a Camaro tries to pinch you off in a merge lane, it's priceless to see the "innocent Subaru" hold them out. It's a pleasure you can't experience if the car is stickered up.

I LOVE those priceless looks on rednecks faces....I had a couple rednecks in a rustang laughing at my hoodscoop yesterday at a light...I asked the guy if he knew what my tail lights looked like... and he got serious for second and then laughed again with his mullet buddy....I guess he didn't think he had anything to worry about....untill I launched and disappeared on down the road on his sorry ass.... I didn't really get to see it this time, but I KNOW it was there...

my toolbox is plastered with mtb stickers. I always took it to the races. But I haven't found a spot on my car that would benefit from a sticker, IMHO.

I had all of my stickers on my roof-rack fairing. A marzocchi sticker and a Pinkbike (I don't really know why I had that there...) sticker on the rear window along with a Sirius Radio sticker and a sticker that said "PLaD (long A): This **** is so played". It was round like an OBX sticker, I thought it was funny and I got it for free, so that was cool.
Most of my stickers were on the roof rack though. I had 2 Mountain Hardwear nuts on the back of the rear crossbar. I always said my car had nuts. It was funny. Trust me.

Just give the stickers to some honda-head. He will thank you and put them right next to his APC stickers he already has on his Civic.

Wow. That was clever Joe. All Hondas suck, so lets make fun of them.

I bet! I had all the pimped out stickers. Thompson, Rockshox (although I hate Rockshox, lol), Cat Crap (goggle anti-fog), Shimano, Hayes, and a Gary Fisher World Cup sticker.
Mountain Bike stickers make your car cooler.

if you're racing, you have to roll up looking the part. Intimidation is your friend. I was at the start line of a big race and my Japanese friend started laughing. He said the guy next to me thought I was a works rider because of my bike and parts.

Meh, I never raced. A few downhill events, but never really wanted to race. Didn't want biking to become a "job" of sorts.
I just like people to know I'm serious. Instead of getting the "how does your huffy fit up there", people realize you know what's up. I don't like having to carry a 50 pound mountain bike all over the place just to shut people up, it's bad for gas mileage.

Decals..Stickers...

I guess my take would be..If your getting a free part or a hell of a deal from the manufacturer then it's cool to advertise for them. I've gotten alot of help and parts from GPMoto..Rallitek, PDXTuning and hopefully a future sponsorship from Pheonix Gold. So I do have vinyl decals from those companies. I think they are tasteful placed well and work with my car. It doesn't look like a rolling advertisement. But in the end..Its to each his/her own.
| BAC5.2 | 02-15-2004 02:27 PM |
Matty - That's a good point. The least you could do for a company that hooks you up is give a bit of advertising.

I've seen Tinker Juarez (sp) race here in Hood River at the Gorge games..The guy is an animal...It was a 24 hours endurance race ..he beat alot of the multiple rider teams in the event..and he raced alone..His nearest solo competitor was a Gary Fisher sponsored pro that he beat by nearly 10 laps..each lap was like 2 miles. And the guy is like 42 years old.
| BAC5.2 | 02-15-2004 03:26 PM |
Tinker is a mountain bike God. I remember that race, and as I recall, he got burned out and ended up finishing 6th or something. But he beat who he was trying to beat.
I don't remember who he was trying to show up. I think it was Ryder Heisherdal (I can't spell his last name for anything).
He's right up there with Ned and Johnny T. in terms of Mountain Bike Legend's.

I'd put them on. If you don't like how they look or get tired of them you can always pull them off.
I like stickers :)

it's your car isn't it?
Just apply them tastefully and carefully...and you can always discard them.
At least you can say you have Eibach springs. :D
I doubt a lot of people have Prodrive genuine parts, but they would love to put the prodrive logo on. ;)
PS. Nothing looks worse than a wonky decal.
