To tint or not to tint

At first I didnt want to tint my windows but now I think I am going to. What do you guys think?
If I do them I am gonna do 35% all around with that graphite tint. This guy I work with has been doing it for about 10 years and is only going to charge me $100 since the ghaphite tint material costs a little more then normal tint film.
Can anyone photoshop a pic of my WRX with the wondows tinted?
I can only find a pic of the STI, unless anyone has a pic of their 04 blue WRX....

Tint!!!! The % depends on your taste. I have 15%. It cuts out the UV rays and I can still see to back up at night.

I was also hesitant to get mine tinted. Still have not gotten mine but have been deciding what shade to go with. I've been considering 20% on back on 35% on front.
I want to tint it mostly because i live in sunny weather and i don't want the interior to start fading.

Check your state laws. In some states, it's illegal to tint any window directy infront of, or to the side of the driver. Some states say it's illegal to have tints at all.
It's better to do a little footwork now than see a ticket on your window.

If it helps, I got my windows tinted a few weeks ago. This is 20% on the back and pasenger windows, 50% front.

35% all the way around (except for front...duh)
looks nice, but better yet keeps me from cooking in the sun and protects your interior. If you have factory leather, it actually recomends it in the care instructions.

I'd vote for tint, but that could be biased

I bought my Forester XT two days ago. Tinting was the first thing that went on - 35% all around. Makes a HUGE difference. Blocks the UV rays, keeps the interior cooler, protects the interior from fading, offers security because it's more difficult to peek in and it's harder to smash a window. Check your state laws for percentages. Technically I can only have 50% on the front windows but went with 35% after talking to others in my state who have never had problems with it.

Enjoy. :D

i second that. i've been stopped 4 times in the past 2 years for my tints (35%). if i had to do it again, i probably would have done it a shade lighter.

I forget what my tint% is. I know when I got it done a year ago, I got it right at the legal limit on the windows, but they are 20% in the rear and front sunstrip. So whatever is the legal limit in FL, that's what I got :)

 Ibizan, that looks beautiful! If I had known about the Forester XT two months ago, I might not have bought my WRX. But seeing your photo confirms what I was thinking: 35% all around for me! I think I'll schedule it this week.

That's 35% sides, 20% back (legal limit at the time here in TX) The lighting is such that the pictures look a little darker than in reality. Sorry it's not on an '04 :(

Say you're driving in a state that can't have tinted front windows but the state you live allows it, would you still get a ticket?
| AcquaCow | 07-03-2003 04:16 PM |
I'd tint my windows, but I never drive with the windows up anyways... I'm one of those windows down, music up types. Plus it seems that on the front driver and passenger windows I have scratches on the glass from the window scraping something inside the door. I _KNOW_ that will bubble if I try to get it tinted... So until I swap out windows...no tints for me. And if I swap out windows...I'll just get actual tinted glass =)

I look at it this way tint your windows and your giving someone a better reason to break into your car B\c they cant see that theres nothing there. I say no tint..

I look at it this way tint your windows and your giving someone a better reason to break into your car B\c they cant see that theres nothing there. I say no tint..
Huh?
Look around at all the vehicles that have tinting today: minivans, pick-up truck, sports-cars, station wagons, etc. The tinting isn't there as a theft deterrent but it acts as one regardless. A snatch and grab thief will break in because they've spotted something in your vehicle that they want (stereo, cell phone, radar detector, etc). If they can't see it, then chances are they won't break in. Why risk getting caught over something that may not exist? One guy in another forum reported that tinting probably saved his stereo because the window didn't break. The film caused it to spiderweb and the thief didn't want to stay around to finish the job. Bottom line is if someone wants in your car bad enough, they'll try.
My new XT is the first car I've had tinted and it makes a world of difference. It's not as hot inside with the summer temps, UV rays are blocked, and my 8 month old son rides a lot easier because of this. It also looks really, reall sweet.
Tinting was the first thing I had done to my car, before the 17" wheels, short shifter, or any other mod.

I put a stereo in my first car, no tint and an alarm and I was broken into stereo stolen.... my 2nd car I tinted the windows before I put in my stereo had it for 3 years no problems parking in places where people are frequenly broken into....
it's quite simple out of site out of mind... if they dont know whats inside they're not going to risk trying to find out when there's probably some other car that they'll be sure of what they're gonna get...
once at the mall a car 3 spots down from me had the stereo stolen... much ****tier car and a much less expensive stereo than I had in mine.....

That's one reason I don't want to upgrade my HU, nobody (I hope) wants my stock one.
I really need to get mine done soon, my left arm is really taking a beating.
