Toledo ProSolo part 1

dwx 05-18-2004 12:25 PM

Toledo ProSolo
I saw a couple other Subarus signed up but not many. I just signed up in SM to see how I compete with DG and Tunnell. I think I'll be sporting a new set of A3S04s for that event as my A3S03s likely won't make it past a test and tune we're having the week before.
KC 05-18-2004 01:30 PM

Good for you. :) Good luck!
10th Warrior 05-18-2004 01:41 PM

me and my new tyres will be there upholding GS honor. the time to kill coopers and sodomize celicas is upon us! hopefully pick up some more Challenge points too :)
jcroy66 05-18-2004 02:20 PM

I'll be there (in that wimpy Ladies class).
trhoppe 05-18-2004 03:02 PM

Shawn Whipple and I will be trying to take out mikey in STX :)

Where are you staying Jeff? I still haven't made any hotel reservations. Toledo is only about a 6 hour tow for me so I'm leaving Friday morning.

don't know yet. wanna shack up? cheaper is better :) i'll be getting in sometime friday as well.
Orion 05-18-2004 06:24 PM

I won't make the Pro, but I'll be at the Tour.

Toledo is home so I may head up to watch on Sat.
jbrennen 05-18-2004 09:19 PM

Hey Phil, I regret I won't be able to challenge you to a rematch in Toledo. I just can't justify doing National level events three weekends in a row. I've got the DC Tour and DC Pro the previous two weeks. Perhaps I'll do the Peru Pro in August...

DG and BT will be at the DC Pro. Should be fun trying to keep up with the best. :) I'll also be sporting a brand new set of A3S04s for the DC events.
Storm 05-18-2004 11:21 PM

We'll be there in DSP. Our first ProSolo too.....Should be interesting! I hope my co-driver doesn't smoke the clutch.....

KC or others who've done many Pros....will the courses favor a shorter tire or taller tire setup (talking in general)? I have choices and will likely bring more than one set of wheels. I just wanted a heads up.

I've done one prosolo and watched another and the courses have not been very open at all. From what I've seen having shorter gearing would be better, but others can chime in. DG, Tunnel, and Matthew Braun are all signed up for Toledo, so it should be interesting... Jeff I'm going to call around tommorrow for a hotel room and I'll let you know what I find out, the more sharing a room the better, it is cheaper. I have a nice spacious 24ft enclosed trailer as well. :)
trhoppe 05-19-2004 12:17 AM

Definetly go for gearing at the ProSolos. No doubt about it.
If I could get a 245/45/15 I would be all over it ;)

Shorter gearing on AWD cars tremendously helps off the line. :)
Storm 05-19-2004 09:47 AM

Cool.....I guess we'll be running the "ugly 15's" then!

I'll be out for the Pro and the Tour... Anybody know of a good safe place to park a trailer with a Subaru on it for the week between the two?

I'd hate to tow the thing home for 4 days then tow it back out there.

So anyone have a hotel recommendation?
mykrrrr 05-21-2004 12:59 AM

When is it??? Ann Arbor is only about 45 min. from Toledo just north on US23.

I might have to go down and check it out. I'm no where near pro ability yet...

I have a room reserved at the Motel 6, very cheap. I haven't had good luck with Motel 6 quality wise but I know a couple other guys staying there.

The event is June 12th-13th. I'll be towing the WRX early Friday morning (to avoid Chicago traffic) and hopefully get there around 12 Toledo time. Should give me time to unhook the trailer and find the hotel and whatnot.
Storm 06-04-2004 01:44 AM

What time does practice start? Are we going to be allowed onsite early friday, or is air traffic going to take precedence......

We might not get there til 3-4 on Friday and we are gonna need practice! My practice launches have my R/T's all over with a healthy dose of redlights...... This could be ugly. I only hope to beat the Russian in his BMW! Tall order considering his recent results in DC......

Jay Storm
DSP.....yeah, D S P!!!!
KC 06-04-2004 07:42 AM

Nahh... you're away from where the air traffic is. Heck, at the tour there last year, there were F-16s taking off.... (and some showing off). :D

Practice usually does start at around 3ish... with tickets being sold until 5.

Have fun! :)

Storm 06-04-2004 08:18 AM

I meant BAX traffic  but anyway....I remember the fighters last year. I got some video of them.....and you for that matter! :p

How much are practice tix? Maybe more importantly, since SCCA HQ's somehow can't seem to get 2 friggin rulebooks out to us....will Tasha have any for purchase? If not, can I stand behind you when you check in?

Stand behind me? I don't think that'll be happening since I won't be there.

My time doing events has been cut short due to work.
dwx 06-04-2004 09:07 AM

I would almost guarantee they'll have rulebooks forsale. Mine seems to have gone awol on me.
jcroy66 06-04-2004 09:54 AM

Storm, NWOR should also have rulebooks for sale. Or you could probably buy ones at the Steel Cities event this weekend. We got ours at the OVR event 2 weeks ago.

Hey, does anyone know if both my husband and I will be required to have separate rulebooks?? I certainly hope not, cuz that would be silly!

Anyway, we'll be there on Friday practicing our starts too. According to SCCA.com, practice starts run from 3-5 and it's $2/practice start or $10 for 6.
Storm 06-04-2004 12:54 PM

Damn, I shoulda known that! I remember you posting that awhile back. I figured by the amount you were posting in this thread, you were in!

I'll try to score rulebooks this weekend or next. Just as long as we get a couple in time to go through registration. We'll be practicing starts too. No doubt about that......
