Total lighting overkill here...

Okay, I was just searching around- well, who's gonna be the first to buy this? [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] Only $1143 for the complete kit including lights...[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif[/img]

Stop that! your gonna get SubiGal all excited! You know she is running for her credit card now!
ZAP 04-30-2001 09:37 PM

There is someone that lives near me who has one
something like that.I thought it looked kind of
cool but you are right it is kind of overkill.
garface 04-30-2001 09:39 PM

Yea, that's overkill for street use, but that is intended for rallying and extreme offroading. When your driving down a narrow dirt road in the dark at 100mph, you will definately not think those are overkill. Not that I would know personally, but it sounded good[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif[/img].
SWITCH 04-30-2001 10:06 PM

Those lights are illegal for street use. The lights are definately intended for rally use in this case.

More Light = More Car to bring home at the end of a rally[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif[/img]
Lifino 04-30-2001 10:11 PM

There's a guy on this board with a rig just like that. He's from up in Cleveland. I don't remember his name, but he's got it set up on his wagon. Very cool... Great for traffic.

Oh, I know it would be great for rallying, but what's the first thing you think of when you see that staring you in the face- [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif[/img]OVERKILL[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif[/img] I actually kind of like it though, as long as it wasn't on all the time...

Extra lights are always good for long distance driving/lookin' tough...

I'm gonna do some extra lights (not a full light pod - I don't think the GF would like being seen in a Prodrive 00--00 podded RS) on my car before I go on summer road trips.

You can find pods MUCH cheaper than the Uchiyama Motorsports ones. Check Demon Tweeks in the UK, Suby Sports in California or your local rally shop...oh wait I forgot not everyone has TAD in their backyard...hehehe [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/tongue.gif[/img]

Hey, waitaminnit...

C'mon, people. There is still some room in that lower grill opening for a couple of PIAA's. Sheesh, and you guys said it was overkill [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif[/img]
Frank 05-01-2001 06:57 AM

the tow hook locator decal and the hood pins kinda make me think that this is a rally car. Then again i have seen some interesting stuff on the streets hahaa.
bratmantlz 05-01-2001 06:59 AM

i think that would be great on my RS especially when some hick cuts me off to save a .004 of a second to only slow down in front of me [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/mad.gif[/img] nice and bright i can see it now...[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] hit the switch and 1milion candle power hit em.. screetch bam goodbye[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img][img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif[/img]

ImprezaL 05-01-2001 09:52 AM

...but what about shipping from the UK?

-Josh
Subie Gal 05-01-2001 10:24 AM

shipping is not as much as you think....

unless you're shipping wheels or tires.. it's not all that bad....

just food for thought... also MRT has light pods and shipping from AUS is nothin...

Andrew 05-01-2001 07:34 PM

Its not illegal on the street if you put the covers on correct?
MichiganRS 05-01-2001 10:59 PM

Hmm. Yeah. Why is that illegal when the lights on my car, or Subie Gal's, (or anybody else here in town) aren't? What's the difference in legality between how they are mounted and how ours are?
dscottf 05-02-2001 08:57 AM

In Wisconsin, that would be legal, unless you turned it on! (WI code does not require covers either)

If the lights are SAE approved (those arn't, but you could build something that was), it would be legal to use on road, as long as only four lamps were in use at a time.

SAE approved lamps have "SAE" stamped on them somewhere, and generally have sucky beam patterns.
bratmantlz 05-02-2001 09:00 AM

hell if i got something like that and acop sweats me i would ask him to prove i had em on... and then drive off damn cops[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
Brian
thinking of getting one for the hell of it.
ImprezaL 05-02-2001 10:10 AM

Ooh ooh, if you do that Brian, I want pics!

ninetalesnwf 05-02-2001 06:48 PM

people will not miss ya if you had those on when driving down the highway. They would be good in the fog too
