Video/Sound clip of SPT Exhaust
Here is a video with sound of the SPT Performance Exhaust. The weblink is:

http://homepage.mac.com/conker69/FileSharing1.html

You might have to click the actual text "SPT Exhaust" (blue text) rather than the download button itself. The file is about 2.5MB in size and the format is quicktime.

The first part is idling while the last section is at modest RMP levels (4000-4500).

So what do you think? Good and bad.

Thank you for posting that I have been looking for good samples of that sound forever.

Is that all that is done to it is the SPT exhaust?

If that is all that you have done to it you may want to contact SPT because you could use that as an excellent marketing tool.

How much was it installed?

In case you did not catch the drift of what I was saying, I loved the way it sounded.
04RedWRX 08-22-2004 12:42 PM

Sounds just like my car. I do love the way it sounds.

itsnosti, I paid $400 for mine from Mastro Subaru, took me about 30 minutes to install it.
itsnosti 08-22-2004 12:47 PM

I like and I want!

Do you have a garage, I live in an apartment complex (for the the next several months) so all I have is a parking lot to do it in.
itsnosti 08-22-2004 12:49 PM

Is that CB?
04RedWRX 08-22-2004 12:54 PM

Yea I do have a garage and an impact wrench/compressor setup. I just jacked the drivers side up and put it on jack stands. There are only 2 bolts to get the old system off, make sure you put some silicon (sp) spray in the rubber hangers before you try and take the old system off. The SPT exhuast comes with new springs, bolts, and nuts. Be sure to use them. Then sit back and enjoy.
itsnosti 08-22-2004 01:08 PM

So you think it would be doable in a parking lot?
96Imprezadent 08-22-2004 05:28 PM

i did my cat back install in a small driveway with the factory jack and some bricks. a parking lot will be fine.

Yes that is the only mod on my car, aside from the radio and speakers. I installed it myself, took about 30 minutes or so, and it cost about $400.

Thanks!! :)

I actually forgot it came with new bolts and used the old bolts instead. They work just fine but when I change the oil next time I will put the new bolts on just to be sure.

Yes.
Hondaslayer 08-22-2004 11:36 PM

Very nice sounding exhaust.
And yes it is a good marketing tool.
Whenever people inquire about them I simply take them out to my car,and rev it a few times. I'd say about %25 buy it on the spot.I have no idea how many come back for it.
conker69 08-23-2004 07:31 AM

If people are interested I can post more video's/soundclips of this exhaust at high RPMs and maybe some more driving vids or whatever. I find this information very useful when deciding which exhaust to purchase.

chewbakarox 08-23-2004 02:00 PM

the link to download/play isn't working for me.....anyone else having the same problem?
MB38 08-23-2004 02:20 PM

Conker... put the file in your iDisk's "Movies" folder and you can make a specific "movie" page for it.

Or, put it in the "Sites" folder and it'll be http://homepage.mac.com/yourname/moviename.mov
MB38 08-23-2004 02:22 PM

And did we really need 45 seconds of idle? ;)

I just signed up for the free 60 day trial and it won't let me do all the fancy stuff...at least I don't think so.

LOL. I told my wife, she filmed it, the same thing.

can i ask any power/performance gains? if any? i like that sound though!
ilnmcom 08-24-2004 01:36 AM

You should still have that feature
Your trial .mac account simply restricts use of the Virex software, the special promos and the Backup software.

By the way: .mac is way worth it!

To the best of my knowledge I gained about 3-5 more horsepower and the opportunity to further mod my engine.

Hm...I will have to work with it some more. I do like what I have seen so far.
JWerty1 08-24-2004 10:32 AM

i've been running the bosal(SPT) 3" catback with a catless midpipe, and catless bosal downpipe for months now, it sounds great, deep and throaty, quiet at idle and gets pretty loud as you get on it, best catback u can get for the price

This man speaks the truth, it's worth every penny. It may seem a little steep for the features you get... but the integration is there, the lack of spam is there and the *free* software is there. I've gotten a few hundred bucks worth of software from it so far... worth every penny. I had an iTools account way back in the day... and I've had .Mac from the start.

If you have questions, there are always many Mac users willing to help out.

And hooray for idle!

Excellent sounding exhaust...you've just convinced me to get it when i buy mine. Thank you.

I have one request though. Do you think you could film one like you did with the car idling in the garage....except...get on the gas a little, just so we can hear what i rev sounds like outside of the car?

Thanks a lot bro

Thanks!! And you're welcome.

Yes I can do that. I also should film it outside of my garage since my garage creates a weird echo effect on the sound of the exhaust. I will try to get a new video by Friday.

I purchased my exhaust system from:

http://www.byers.subaru.com/en_US/

But you should go to the SPT website and find dealers near you and order from them. The website is:

http://www.subaru.com/microsites/spt/home.sptmain

MSRP is $449.95 but you should be able to get it for around $400. Good luck.
csacom 09-13-2004 01:08 PM

Thanks for the link to the sound. It does sound nice. However since you are taking suggestions, how about some reving at a stand still?

I have found that langstonspeed.com is selling it for $395.00, I am going to try and get Becker to beat the price.

I am a little confused about the cat in the mid-pipe that some of you refer to. I thought there were 3 cats, 1 in the up-pipe and 2 in the down-pipe. I also thought that the SPT exhust bolts up to the factory down-pipe. I thought the thing that looks like cat in the mid-pipe is a resonator. Am I way off here?
thebing 09-15-2004 04:21 PM

any luck with the new video?
