Vinyl Stickers to cover up holes on Trunk Lid?

Random question...
Im looking for a way to cover up several holes on my trunk lid remaining after I removed my STi Spoiler. Im replacing STi wing with a wrx wing. I do not want to permanantly weld the holes up, but I do want a patch job that can survive the weather environments ( rain, snow, ice, heat).
Would a vinyl sticker of some sort work??? If so, where in the heck do I buy them??? I have a black car, so I figure some black decals of some kind wont look too bad (as long as they are functional in keeping water from coming into my trunk).
Anyone done anything like this???? Any ideas?????
Thanks!!!

I used duct tape and it kept the rain and snow out.. so the vinyl stickers should work. Here's a joint that I've used for my "ej257" decals I slapped on the trunk and the side of my hood scoop.

I took labels and spray painted them then took clear tape and put it over the holes. it worked ok for a couple weeks while new trunk was being painted and installed.

Maybe he couldnt find anyone to swap with in his area.
Ive been looking for over a year for another san remo red impreza to trade me their wingless trunklid for my wrx wing trunklid.
Sometimes the location makes it difficult to find someone to trade with, sometimes the color does.

I didnt want to swap trunks because I wanted to keep my STi wing incase I ever sell the car or incase I dont like the new look.
And yes, it is going to have to be a permenant fix. Most of the excess holes will be covered in part by the wrx wing. It should look fine if I can find something to keep the excess holes covered.
I hope????
Any other ideas?

Try a hobby shop or Joannes fabrics, they have small plugs with double sided tape, you could silicone the holes and then use them. If not they also have decals or plain colored decal paper.

If you're going from STi to WRX wing, the new wing will NOT cover most of the holes. I think it's 9 holes you're going to have left over.... (if I remember right the STi wing is 13 bolts, the WRX one is 4) any "decal" job is going to look like..... crap?
A new deck lid should only cost less than $200 even from the dealership, but you will have to get it painted, the wing should already be painted from the manufacturer......
Buy the decklid... do it right.....

a little more then 200$ and you might want to replace the springs as well, and paint it. thats what i went and did for wingless.

black vinyl? just use electrical tape -- that's the best $2 temporary fix i can think of...

I realize how great a new decklid would look, but Im already committed to the idea of covering up the excess holes. Plus, a new lid and paint job would be more money than I would want to spend.
Anyways, I just lined up the wrx wing onto the plain trunk deck and none of the holes are visible if looking straight down on the wing (with the exception of 2 blue snaps that dont seem to come off of the trunk deck). So, my point is... the decals/cover up job would not be that visible once the wrx is on.
Thanks for all of the help so far fellas!

the blue plastic pieces do come out, they are panel like clips and you can work them from underneath to get them out

You should be able to go to lowes or home depot and get the plastic push pieces.....they will fit in the holes, just toss a little bit of rubber sealer on the back side and push them in. Done. You can even paint them stock color, looks very professional.

Go to a local sign shop and ask for some scraps of the vinyl decal material they use. For your project, you'll need 2mm thick. Black should be easy to get, and they will probably just give it to you free.

Just use a bunch of Mr. Yuck stickers and you're set. :D
Honestly, I used interior push button things with a little gasket maker on the underside. It worked fine - no leaks at all.

I'm really surprised to read that the trunk lid would be so cheap from the dealer. I actually don't have my wrx as of yet, but I'd like to get one within the next couple of months. I'd really like to go wingless so this thread has given me good news.

You can go to any "Fast Signs" and get any color vinyl you want. I believe "Fast Signs" is nation wide.

They're here in Jersey.. basically any of those sign places could help and there's practically one in every town.

put the wing back on and drive it like that until you can afford a new trunk lid. you have an STi, the $300 or so necessary to purchase and have painted a trunk lid is like 7 tanks of gas!
if you go to lowes you might be able to get some little rubber grommets in the loose nuts/bolts/fastners drawers. but why not do it right?

I know this thread is old but $300 for trunk and painted? The dealer wants $400 for a new trunk, SGP doesn't ship them, and the best deal I could find to get it painted with the quarters blended is around $700. Damn metallic paint.
