Spend the money on something cool instead. Anything Kartboy would be a good start.

if you want a brighter cabin, check out www.leddomelight.com also check out the video on HSPN.com.

I just bought some of these for my motorcycle, you might want to check them out. They are small LED pods that you can mount anywhere just using doublesided tape. That way you can aim them wherever you want.
www.superbrightleds.com I also bought an install kit from this place.....www.customdynamics.com Cheaper than neon, and a better affect to boot.

yea dont go neon at all do not go neon it ****s with your radio and the transitors die out fast. Get LEDs if anything.

I also would like to add a little ambiance to my interior!
I intend to use these - Cold Cathode Florescent Lights (CCFL), but I have not yet worked out the details of wiring them up. They will definitely need their own on/off switch, as I will prob. not use them very often (I dont want to be made fun of). Also, it would be nice to tie them into the same circuit as the dash lights so I would have ability to dim them. Though, Im not sure that will work w/ this particular type of lighting.
Is it RICE - I dono, but for $6 who cares?? :)

http://www.oznium.com/cathode-kit that's what I had in my focus for the trunk and under dash, other stuff I had LEDs, cathodes are the best way to go, the 4" ones they sell are bright enough for the dash too, they are perfect IMO.
Edit: Oh yeah, and customer service is +1, they shipped it fast and in a sealed box so nothing breaks!

I have two led light bars under my dash (10") I bought from www.superbriteleds.com . Much better than neon .

shouldnt that go on the nice long rice thread? (unless very tastfuly done)

just because the guy wants to see in his car doesnt make him a ricer. Its not Rice to put like hyper white leds under your hood or red/blue/green in your car, because the subaru stock lighting sucks. As far as the neon goes its a little rice but as was said for under 6$ a pop thats a pretty good deal. So while you may find it distasteful who are you to judge the needs of others.
PS how the hell are any of your comments helpful.... this man needs help, not some deuchbag givin him **** cause he wants some lighting.

Ok well asking for neons in the car is ricey. I don't give a **** who you are. If he wants more light get brighter LEDs or brighter lights for the inside, not neons.

Thats a little better i guess.. i dunno if u can buy green LEDs that are bright enough but green neon isnt soo ricey i mean it does match the color of every other light in the car.

^^Yeah green neons aren't bright, they are annoying.

i agree neon is anoying, it breaks easily, ****s with yoru radio and other circuts and tends to die in like 2 weeks. if you throw a nice variable resistor inline though you can get the perfect amount of light you need.
| Tiburon894 | 11-24-2006 09:28 PM |
okay, every one just chill the hell out. i don't want a ricer and didn't know the options for interior lighting and up for any ideas. Talking **** to someone who needs help is just making you look like an ass. congrats! thanks for everyone who ACTUALLY helped.

are you just parroting stuff you heard once or just making it up entirely? I had neon back in a couple different cars back in the 90's, and have neon in a couple custom built computers right now... if you know anything about wiring and how to make a decent solder connection, you shouldn't have any trouble with neon. I've NEVER seen any interference issues or even had any neon die for that matter...

this is how i wired mine up on my bike...

i also got white leds under my seats in my rex, VIP status haha, j/k... it's really nice though, not rice at all, imo

Actually I know a bit about low voltage electrical wiring and yes I have had lots of trouble with neon kits especially on cars. First if the tube breaks your neon is done vs if the led tube breaks you seal it and your set. Neon use massive transistors in the end of the tube (If you know anything about cathode rays which Im sure you do the transitor converts the 12 V and X amps into a much larger amount of volts the passin of electrons at a higher pace causes a larger number of collisions within the inert gas inside of the tube causing them to excite electrons. When the electrons "calm" so to speak the energy they emit as the go from a high sublevel to a lower one is emitted in the form of light some in the visible light spectrum thus neon. The thing with neon is the transitors. First to create the high voltage there needs to be an extreme number of raps around a metal core and the more you need the thinner the wire. Thin wire and heat = faster degredation of the wire. Transitors work on the properties of magnetic fields. The larger number of coils on pole A the larger the magnetic field. Magnetic fields can mess with circuts in your car because as the form and break at the source they emit the field in the form of "magnetic energy" (for simplicity but this is not a real form of energy) which can convert into energy in the wires of your circuts causing interferance and higher energy than expected. For example, someone with a neon underbody kit that has a transitor dying out will notice a great deal of static when the neon is turned on. The real problem with neon in cars is that the car volatage varries and this causes accelerated wear on the circuts most specifically the transitors. While neon and cathode are and have been extremly useful in electronic applications the variability of voltage from a car batery is for lack of a better word "crude" compared to the relative exactness neon requires. So while neon is a good thought LEDs are much more simpler, easier to maintain and far more practical. Excuse any grossly bad spelling errors in this paragraph, my apologies.

great info!! good thing i went with LEDs :)

why neon lights? i got some blue ones under the dash and under the front seats, it looks clean and isnt very ricey at all. its also good to be able to see your floor at night in case you drop your phone or remote or something. it happens to me all the time, which is why i got the lights. led ftw.
