Where to buy LHD WRX Projectors? part 1

AngryPuppet 04-22-2003 08:19 PM

Where to buy LHD WRX Projectors?
I know there are some group buys out there but where can I buy these if I don't want to wait? Are there any vendors that have these in stock with the wiring harness so they plug right in where the stock lights do? I'm ready to buy but I want to go with a reputable vendor who has them in stock and ready to ship, with no delays.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Try posting this in the Electrical & Lighting forum, or have a mod move it there for you.
Thumper23 04-22-2003 10:39 PM

Group buy on LHD STi lights = the worst thing evar!!!! Don't do it. Run away from the light. RUN.

CC-B is a great vendor and they are getting more in. So there ya go.:disco:
DoctorNick 04-23-2003 12:05 AM

CC-B is the way to go. This guy is great and if I have the chance, I would buy from him again. I'd suggest calling him as soon as possible. He might have one around in stock...

Here's something I don't get. Why are the LHD Projectors more than the JDM RHD Projectors in cost???
wrx320 04-23-2003 12:34 AM

Supply and demand, my friend. Supply and demand.
Zola 04-23-2003 01:34 AM

Yeah, you're going to have to get on a list if you want a set of these, or find a friend who lives in Germany or Switzerland who can give you a private hookup. There are no vendors who have these just sitting on shelves waiting for people to buy them.

If I'm not mistaken, one difference between them is that the LHD Projectors have the leveling motor but the RHD, non-HIDs don't.

So who has 'em for the best price right now? It's pretty evident to stay away from the Group buys right at this moment. Looks light a nightmare sifting through those pages.
krazedant 04-23-2003 01:33 PM

Yes, stay as far away from the GB's for these headlights as possible. Me and Thumper are unfortunate victims in one of the GB's, and we're still hoping to get our money back. Anyways, yeah, I recommend cc-b, too. Eddy is a good vendor.

LHD = more expensive because the beam pattern will not blind on-coming traffic

RHD = beam pattern is the opposite and this may cause you a ticket, or accident....

I dont know if CC-B has the best price but at least this is a NO OBLIGATION - GET ON THE LIST pre-sale.
wrEk 04-23-2003 05:38 PM

I feel like such a noob, but who is CC-B? or what? (Not sure if it is a person or a business at this point, haha)

How much is he charging?
MAD REX 04-23-2003 06:18 PM

Yeah the lhd ones have levelling motors in them

I paid in December for a set of 'slightly damaged' ones.

Vendor sent me 2 passenger lights, I contact him, he tells me to send one back and he'll send me a brand new one.

Been waiting ever since....

Talk to Eddy at cc-b. He's the guy if you want LHD headlights :D

So if they have the leveling motors included do you only need to buy the "height adjustment switch" and some wiring to use that function? (Sorry for the brief hijack! :p )
jagcars26 04-24-2003 12:07 PM

Not to rain on this parade but,,,,,,,,if you want the leveling motors DO get the LHD lites. But you will wait, and pay quite abit more, also Eddie at CC-B is great and he comes through.BUT
If you dont,,,,,,get the RHD lites, there cheaper, vendors have them,,gruppe-s right now at $750, AND,,,,they adjust fine to LHD,no blinding other drivers(this has been documented many times).I had mine checked at an inspection station just for fun.No problems!Matter of fact the guy told me i could bring them up a tad lol.

my two cents

Working in Vendor's classifeds, I can tell you that Eddy (CC-B) is the one to go to for the LHD lights.

Leo
CC-B 04-24-2003 01:14 PM

Thanks for the props, Leo. I appreciate it :)

I've got a few left in a shipment arriving around the 7th, otherwise we can provide you with LHD Sti lights around the 21st of May. We'll be getting 10 more pairs in then.

Harnesses can be supplied as long as my supply lasts. These things are hard to come by.

Give us a buzz at 708 369 8707 if you have any questions

Eddy used to be great til I needed new clips for my wrc look grill.

Sent a few pm's telling me they were the same as stock. I told him they were not, and asked if he could send replacements.

I would pay for them of course.

And I haven't heard from him since. :(
CC-B 04-24-2003 01:25 PM

 Whoa,

I scanned and e-mailed you a copy of the installation instructions (with the packing list). Those black things you were talking about weren't on there. I thought you went to Subaru for them and that's why I didn't hear from you.

You come out swinging, damn :(

Vostok 7 04-24-2003 01:44 PM

Hey Eddy, after May when do you expect to get some LHDs?

I NEEEDs me some LHD projectors but I'm pooooooor.

CC-B 04-24-2003 01:52 PM

Well, I expect the "rush" to taper off a bit after the shipment of the 21st of May, so I would think that as of early june we might be able to keep some in stock.
Give us a call when you're ready to buy and we can give you a more exact date.

Thanks for inquiring

EDM LHD STi Headlamp help!
So If I have, which I will, the LHD Sti headlamp, do I really need to have the leveling switch in order to adjust the light up and down? Why it is better to install leveling switch? I believe LHD STi headlamp has built-in leveling motor right? Also would the dealler install the leveling switch for me? Thank you

WRXGO:D
CC-B 05-20-2003 08:40 PM

In order to adjust your lights for day to day driving you don't need the switch. That kind of up/down - left/right adjustment is done with screws on the lights themselves.
The height adjustment you can achieve with the switch is a "load compensation", to adjust for the tilt of the car due to the weight carried. It is not essential to have that adjustment, it's a nice but optional feature.

In short: the switch is not essential to the installation and operation of the lights.

As for a dealer installing and hooking up the switch: I believe it is very unlikely you are going to find a dealer willing to do this since you basically have to create the harness and connector yourself. Of course, money talks, so you never know.....

EDM LHD STi Headlamp help!
Thanks Eddy...I am actually in your waiting list for the EDM STi headlamp. Thanks for the quick respond and the help answering my questions. When your EDM shippment arrive sometimes early next week, is it also possible that your wiring harness in stock at the same time? Because I would love buying them both at the same time from you :D

resurecting the thread, the adjuster is also nice for the fog and rain, since you can aim the lights down to give less glare off the fog and illuminate more of the road and the lines in the road.
