Which model? What year?
Impreza? Bug-eye?
The only Subaru replica headlights I've seen on eBay are the Morette replica for the GC/GF/GM model and the wrc-look for the GD/GG bugeye model. The latter has gradually lost its popularity (in terms of the number of vendors in eBay selling them).

yes, those are the ones!

Afaik, no vendor here carry either models. As I previously stated, the wrc-look replicas are getting hard to come by in eBay, and I suspect the morette replicas are not getting popular either.
One of the reason is how inadequate the low beams are. They look bright when viewed from a person standing nearby, but if you project the beam pattern to a wall, it becomes clear why they are actually a downgrade over the oems. I say so because I actually bought a pair to test them out.
Having said that, you may have better luck if you know someone in Asia. I recall the wrc-look headlights are (or used to be) available in Japan through Zowie Auto Studio.

It's not the bulbs, it's the quality of the light housings. They are cheap reflectors and do not produce an acceptable beam pattern regardless of what bulbs you put in them. The lights are also poorly made overall and aren't even wired properly from the factory, you have to "fix" them before they can be installed.
The lights in the pic above are real JDMs, not the Ebay lights.

Speaking from experience, any kind of aftermarket headlight that isn't OEM (JDM/UKDM) is going to have a bad beam pattern and far inferior light output compared to your stock setup. If you must have the "morette" look for your GC8, it is very much worth saving up to buy the real thing. Lights are a pretty important part of having a functional vehicle, and you are really doing yourself a huge disservice by slapping that cheap stuff on your car.

Some vendors here can get the JDM and EDM (better than JDM for North American use due to the beam pattern) headlights that have projector low beams.
If you meant the real WRC lights, the closest good quality ones are by Prodrive usually called the UK300 / triplus healdights iirc, and by Oricari. They both use good quality low & high beam units. The material finish is probably leaps & bounds from the WRC replica that used to be highly available on eBay.

yes STAY AWAY FROM EBAY as far as headlights go. Ebay is great for some things but theres tons of junk that u want to stay away from. the headlights being one of them. they even look cheap ! you wouldn't want that!

Not sure what azimiut used, but you can get acrylic cabochons & clear acrylic tubes (e.g. from www.mcmaster.com or www.tapplastics.com) and place the oem bulbs inside. The beam spread can be adjusted by moving the bulbs closer or farther from the flat side of the cabochon. Cabochons that size should be no more than a few US dollars each. Acrylic tubes are even cheaper. Glue them together.

the turn signals are PVC pipe cut then glued into place, then I simply attached another lens from the audi to the end of the pipe.
| khail19 | 11-23-2004 07:42 PM |
azimiut, that's awesome! I have a set of those lights on the way to me, and I was hoping they would accept 90mm Hella projector modules (the same ones the Morette and Prodrive lights use.) Do you know what size the hole is where the reflector assembly sits? And how did you take that ugly turn signal cover off?
| azimiut | 11-23-2004 08:05 PM |
the audi was square. as for the turn signal piece, I knocked it out from the inside.
| khail19 | 11-23-2004 08:10 PM |
Sorry, I should be more clear. I need to know the diameter of the reflectors that come with the e-bay headlights (the ones that are the high beams in the pic above). I'm assuming the reflector mounts on the back of the housing, and that the low and high are the same diameter.
| azimiut | 11-23-2004 09:28 PM |
yes, the low and high are identical. I dont have them infront of me, I gave them to a friend. but I will find out for you if nobody else does.

Is there a better picture of your car on here? I wanted to see what those look like from a distance. Thanks and Looks great

Don't worry about it, the lights will be here anyday and I'll measure them. I was just hoping you'd remember off the top of your head. Thanks though, and yours look great.

Nice pics, thanks. So basically you cut out the mounting plate from the original headlights and epoxied it to the new ones?
