Will an 02-03 front end fit an 06
well as the title say will a 02-03 front fit a 06 only reason i want to do this because i like the bug eye headlights and i wanna know if i can swap with a friend...
Lexington 06-19-2006 04:11 PM

yes, you can.. but I can guarantee the paint won't match.. and you'll have to swap your bumper beams/front support bar (the thing that holds the bumper, and the thing that your headlights and hood latch bolts to)
crmcodeman 06-19-2006 04:17 PM

Thanks i kinda figured you could cause the lines on the body looks almost the same the only difference i saw was the font end....i will post pics when i get swap complete and the front end color matched so the paint looks the same...

You know I dont understand why you would spend the money on a brand new car, then make it look older by changing the front end? why not just buy the 02-03 and save some money?

possibly because the 06 2.5i has more horses than the other RSes
crmcodeman 06-19-2006 05:10 PM

because all the used 02/03 in my area have been beaten to heck and i dont wanna waste money on repairs...plus i happen to love those years...at the time i bought my car i needed something reliable and wasnt going to have problem in the future... also as midnight stated the newer ones have more horses so it will also be a sleeper but it is along way off for actually getting performanc upgrades... the only other thing that i am doing wih my car for now is suspensio and rims thats it...
Subachouli 06-19-2006 06:01 PM

its a great idea.. do it do it do it

I'd love to do it with a new STI, 2.5L 300hp bugeye with everything already upgraded and brand new
IIdiceII 06-19-2006 06:12 PM

I love my bugeye. but you will def regret it down the road. basically ruining a BRAND NEW car. have fun trying to sell it down the road lol.
WRXDriftR 06-19-2006 09:25 PM

goodbye resale value?
ilnmcom 06-19-2006 09:31 PM

how about.....he makes the payments....if he wants a bugeye....go for it. He knows what he's gaining and what he's losing. The answer to your question is that becuase the cars are both still on the GD platform, you can swap those parts. As someone before me mentioned though, you will have some bumper beams, fenders, upper ti bars etc. beyond just the obvious bumper and headlight swap.
crmcodeman 06-19-2006 10:05 PM

resale vaule wont go down because i am going to keep the 06 front end for when i do trade it in... that way i will get a better trade in vaule for the car...oh and since i will have to paint the new front end anyways i might as well paint the whole car plus the 06 front wrb is going to be my color choice
Lexington 06-19-2006 11:10 PM

.. if you are willing to spend all that money... why not get a WRB 2005 STi, and swap some WRB bugeye owner that will PAY YOU to swap the front end...
Sypher 06-20-2006 12:56 AM

dumbest idea ever, just buy an 02 wrx used and do a JDM STI powertrain swap.
Absubtle 06-20-2006 12:58 AM

I feel remorse on the future Suby drivers.
I can not say anymore.

MrPinski 06-20-2006 04:01 AM

haha, and you are still going to end up spending close to the same amount of money for all that stuff anyways. either to swap the front end, or get a whole motor trany swap used. either way its still expensive, and pointless as far as i see it. save ur money and build up that motor!
SSFWRX 06-20-2006 04:22 AM

the most retarded proposition I've ever set my eyes upon.
pleue 06-20-2006 04:26 AM

sounds like not a bad idea, get the styling you like + diff seats, interior, etc.
digitalmethods 06-20-2006 09:10 AM

I'm guessing you do bodywork and the paint and prep work will be done by you correct? If so then go for it because you can always change it back when you feel like doing so. I thought about this same concept last year when I wanted an STi. Plus I have access to the panels fairly cheap from some friends. If you have a parts/junkyard hookup and the time to do it I think it would be cool. If your paying for all of this to be done then I don't know what to tell you....
MyRuRex 06-20-2006 10:04 AM

Your perogative man... if you have the time and/or $$ then go for it. Forget what everyone says...

I'm all for being unique

Yes i will be doing all the work myself
digitalmethods 06-20-2006 12:06 PM

I would like to do the same with the 06 STi. I would get that slate grey color and have a crazy looking bugeye. That was my plan. I still might. I plan on keeping it so resale doesn't mean much to me.
viking pete 06-20-2006 01:10 PM

There's a guy in the member gallery forum that just went 02-03 front to a 04-05 front end. You should talk to him, he's having to pick up some extra parts to make everything line up.

I was actually just thinking about this the other day. You see a lot of people saying "Bugeyes rule!" But then, you see a lot of people with bugeyes swapping front ends for peanut eyes. I can't recall seeing someone going for an older style front end.

I'd love to swap the front end of my car to bugeyes, if only I could snag some EDM HID's. I love how the bugeyes look, but I wanted an STi..hmm.
Sypher 06-20-2006 02:36 PM

Bug eyes look cool and ish but come on you can buy those used for cheap, just do that and do a drivetrain swap =\. This is as bad as someone with an 04-05 doing a right hand drive conversion on a WRX(Non STi) and making it JDM YO! Its pointless and a waste of money =\. You have something newer....that cost more....why go through expense to make it look old? This is the same crap Nissan owners pull when they take there 240sx flip up front end off a coupe and put on a Silvia front end(non HID/projector) and call it jdm, when there flip ups cost more to produce and to replace. And dont get me started on the Honda civic boys putting on USDM Integra front ends.
digitalmethods 06-20-2006 02:45 PM

Don't sugar coat it Taj. Tell me how you really feel.
Wolfen42 06-20-2006 03:13 PM

Just a passing comment from an '06 owner who used to own an '03 Bugeye.
Wow... the Bugeyes were a LOT simpler to work on around the front end. Easier to remove the headlights... on the '06s you have to remove an awful lot more stuff every time you want to do anything up front. (like upgrading those puny horns f'rinstance)
